Make sure to try the boot out with different levels of lacing, and consider the boots’ height, which may not keep the snow out if you normally encounter deep snow conditions. But by my standards, the comfort, waterproofing and Arctic Grip make the Merrell Aurora 6 Ice+ a great women’s winter boot to keep your feet warm, dry and stable.
Updates to Merrell Aurora 6 Ice+ Waterproof
- The Merrell Aurora 6 Ice+ Waterproof is a mid-cut hiking boot that provides warmth and comfort in cold weather conditions. Its leather upper is encased in a thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) shell around the base to keep water out. The upper contains 200g of M Select Warm to keep the user’s foot insulated in low temperatures.
- This footgear contains a Merrell Air Cushion in the midsole to reduce shock and improve stability. It’s paired with a Vibram Arctic Grip outsole to deliver traction on slick surfaces.
Merrell Aurora 6 Ice+ Waterproof size and fit
The Merrell Aurora 6 Ice+ Waterproof boots are specifically crafted for female outdoor enthusiasts in a breadth of whole and half sizes. They are available in standard width. The lace-up closure system grants a personalized lockdown. Moreover, this product runs relatively true to size.
Merrell’s designers gave the Aurora 6 Ice+ Waterproof the Vibram Arctic Grip outsole. Its profile is filled with 4.5mm triangular lugs that render grip on slippery surfaces, like wet ice and snow. They are also thermochromatic, which means that these lugs turn blue when the temperature drops to 32 degrees or below. Also, the outsole doesn’t leave any markings on soft floors.
The Merrell Aurora 6 Ice+ Waterproof’s midsole uses an Air Cushion in the heel section for shock absorption and stability. It’s paired with molded nylon arch shank to prevent the boot from twisting or contorting. The gear’s removable single-density footbed supplies underfoot comfort and arch support.
The Aurora 6 Ice+ Waterproof features a leather upper housed in a TPU shell to prevent water from entering. 200g of M Select Warm is embedded within the upper to trap heat inside the boot and keep the user’s foot insulated from the cold. A layer of Conductor Fleece lines the collar and topmost portion of the tongue for additional warmth.
The footgear’s closure system uses several eyelets and a pair of hooks to keep the lace organized. A bellows tongue is incorporated into the upper to prevent debris from entering the boot.
