Facts

The Nordwand Knit High GTX is a fully crampon-compatible Mammut boot that gives users sufficient protection and performance for demanding mountaineering trips. Its 3D knitted textile upper features a Gore-Tex Duratherm Insulated Comfort membrane to give both heat retention and waterproofness.

Supplying mountaineers with cushioning and stability is a light polyurethane (PU) midsole. It is equipped with a Michelin Alpine Lite 3970 outsole to deliver sufficient grip on treacherous trails.

The Mammut Nordwand Knight High GTX is a high-top mountaineering boot designed for men and women. It comes with a 3D knitted textile upper and a built-in gaiter that gives a stretch-like fit to wearers. The footgear’s 2 Zone lacing system grants a secure and personalized lockdown. It also sports the Base Fit 2.0, a technology that keeps the heel in place and prevents them from moving needlessly. Moreover, the heel section is lined with 3D foam to offer an adaptive and comfy fit.

This waterproof outdoor boot for mountaineers uses a Michelin Alpine Lite 3970 to supply wearers with surefootedness. It employs a pattern of widely-spaced lugs to produce grip on virtually all types of terrain. This lug design also sheds debris underneath to optimize traction. The sole’s front end uses a climbing zone feature, which yields added control when going uphill. Its rearfoot region works in tandem with a heel brake for added stopping power in downhill conditions.

The Mammut Nordwand Knight High GTX is able to give a cushioned ride via its light PU midsole. It is also engineered to reduce shock from uneven trails while offering energy return. The brand furnished this waterproof mountaineering boot with an Alumina footbed sitting on top of a double-insulated insole made of carbon. These components yield rigid underfoot support while providing insulation for cold conditions. Moreover, the midsole features heel and toe welts, making it fully crampon-compatible.

The Mammut Nordwand Knit High GTX is equipped with an upper made of 3D knitted material and microfiber fabric. These materials adapt to the foot’s shape while granting lightness. A Gore-Tex Duratherm Insulated Comfort laminate lines the upper for waterproofness. It has a temperature rating of -30 °C to deliver warmth in cold weather. A rubber rand wraps around the upper’s base to render durability and trail protection.

The 2 Zone lacing system of this mountaineering boot features a series of fabric loops and metal hooks for fit management. It comes with the brand’s Base Fit 2.0, a pair of double heel straps that prevent blisters and deliver heel support. Its Easy Entry System features a pair of pull tabs attached to the boot’s gaiter. This technology allows wearers to achieve easy on and off, even with the use of thick gloves.

- For easier hikes in cold conditions, users may consider a pair of winter hiking boots. Among the choices that may be explored is the Merrell Thermo Chill Mid Shell Waterproof.
