Updates to Mammut Magic High GTX
- The revamped Magic High GTX has its tongue, heel collar, and flex zone now imbued with elastic fabric, resulting in improved support and comfort for the wearer. This comfortable sense of security is bolstered by the Mammut heel strap cords, called Base Fit 2.1.
- This boot made for mountaineering has an elastic Gore-Tex tongue which prevents bunching and makes on and off a more straightforward affair. Gore-Tex’s waterproofing technology is also engineered within the Magic High GTX’s main bootie to keep practically all things wet at bay.
- Also part of this gear is the lining and padding system called Feet Map. It is responsible for preventing pressure points, making the interior less cold and minimizing perspiration.
Mammut Magic High GTX size and fit
A generally true-to-size, high-cut mountaineering boot for men and women is the Mammut Magic High GTX. It is offered in standard width in whole and half sizes. Its 3-zone lacing system, which includes the heel-locking Base-Fit 2.1 technology, enables mountaineers to adjust the volume of the boot to their preference, thereby achieving a personalized, supportive, and secure lockdown. Its Memo Foam collar, on the other hand, provides users a familiar fit with time.
Thanks to its Vibram Maton outsole, the Magic High GTX is capable of securing the wearer’s footing over terrain characterized by steepness and extreme ruggedness. Its ultra-rigid lugs form a tire-like geometry, offering enough slip resistance in almost every direction. The rather smooth forefoot and heel parts of this long-wearing layer aid in ascents and descents with extra traction.
Ground protection and stability over considerably rocky surfaces come by means of the boot’s heavy-duty midsole. It is engineered with a lightweight wedge made by combining PU, TPU, and poro for improved underfoot cushioning. It has a sturdy welt at the heel, making it fully compatible with hybrid (C2) crampons. A subcomponent called shank is also embedded within its confines, giving the boot extra stiffness underfoot for added arch support. What ups the comfort level of the gear, on the other hand, is the cushy footbed with which the Magic High GTX comes by default.
The Magic High GTX’s over-the-ankle upper (a.k.a Hybrid Shell) is comprised primarily of three different types of materials: velours leather, dropstop textile, and microfiber racing. This combination of light and sturdy materials grants the upper improved abrasion resistance and reduces the boot’s overall weight. There is also a rubber rand covering the lower region of the upper for extra protection against scuffs and scrapes.
The confines of this Mammut gear is built with two notable technologies—the waterproof Gore-Tex Performance Comfort liner and the adjustable Memo Foam. The former leaves the boot breathable on the inside yet watertight on the outside, while the latter wraps the foot (shin, ankle, and instep) in a three-dimensional kind cushioning.
