Carrying a full backpack and hiking over varying terrain, I quickly came to realize that this boot was not just a pretty package, but was also a capable workhorse when it comes to rocks, water, mud and any other challenge that came its way.

Updates to Lowa Mauria GTX
- The Lowa Mauria GTX is equipped with a multitude of features tailored for the female foot. It's a nubuck leather boot lined with a Gore-Tex membrane for waterproofing and breathability.
- Support and cushioning are granted by the DuraPU midsole with SPS system. Traction on virtually all types of surfaces is delivered by the Vibram Apptrail.
Lowa Mauria GTX size and fit
The Mauria GTX is a women’s mid-cut backpacking boot offered in whole and half sizes. It generally runs true to size. The regular width boot is built on Lowa’s standard last. The wide version, on the other hand, is shaped on the WXL last which has a roomier toe box and more volume around the arch area.
Lowa’s 2 Zone Lacing creates individual tensions in two parts: the forefoot area and the top section. This feature allows lacing techniques that hold the foot in place.
This backpacking gear for women is equipped with a Vibram Apptrail outsole. It has irregularly shaped lugs (inner part), block-like lugs (outer portion) and an increased contact area for optimal grip. The tread uses a self-cleaning design to shed off debris. The sole’s front heel edge is pronounced to render additional traction during a descent. Moreover, the boot’s cemented sole construction allows resoling at an additional cost.
This boot is imbued with Lowa’s signature DuraPU midsole which delivers cushioning and shock reduction. It’s paired with a Supination Pronation Support (SPS) system, which consists of thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) inserts applied within the softer PU midsole mold. These inserts help prevent supination and overpronation–two causes of foot pain and fatigue.
The Lowa Mauria GTX has an insole called Climate Control Footbed. Its breathable top layer helps maintain a fresh and dry in-shoe environment. Also, this backpacking boot contains a Hard Stabilizer, a type of joint that’s designed to support the foot during extreme outdoor adventures.
The Mauria GTX owes its durability and rugged looks to its nubuck leather upper. It has rubber rands in the forefoot and heel sections for scuff protection. A Gore-Tex fabric lines the upper to make it waterproof and breathable. The leather hiker’s anatomically-shaped C4 tongue reduces pressure on the foot. The upper also features Flexfit technology to help the ankles move freely.
This mid-cut backpacking boot comes with Lowa’s patented X-Lacing feature to hold the tongue in place, both horizontally and vertically. This technology helps prevent slippage and blisters from forming. There is a series of metal roller eyelets which hold the laces with the least amount of friction. A cam lace loop feature called I-Lock is placed on top of the foot. It works by securing the laces and allows flexible shaft lacing.
