Lacoste LT Spirit 117 History

From the world's number one tennis player in the 1920s to a fashion-driven icon of today, Rene Lacoste had gifted the world with pristine glamour and sophisticated grace. Firing all cylinders of merchandise innovation, the Lacoste brand had tapped almost all luxurious enterprises that are ever known to man. From wallet draining shirts to high-class perfumes, the French-born brand is considered one of the coveted lifestyle options of today.

An apparel company like Lacoste would provide its consumers of the upper echelon all types of clothing shenanigans including Lacoste shoes. These sneakers are of the tennis structure of course. Establishing the La Chemise Lacoste with his good ole pal Andre Giller, Rene Lacoste started introducing the cotton woven polo shirt with stitched crocodiles on the left chest area to the world.

Along with his champion attitude, Rene successfully launched his brand new apparel which in 1952 was fetched on by an aggressive undertaker by the name of Izod. Vincent DePaul Draddy licensed the crocodile shirt for sale in the U.S. From there, the Izod Lacoste connotation spread like wildfire and gave rise to the common misinterpretation that the crocodile Lacoste logo is the Izod marking.

1981 witnessed the diversification of Lacoste's product line which includes sunglasses, perfumes and many more. Of course, a coveted tennis-born apparel line would most likely include tennis sneakers in this timeline. As the growing niche for the court sport expanded, so did the trend for strutting on its shoes surfaced. Shoe brands began to include iterations of its tennis sneakers into its repertoire with Lacoste giving in with the fad.

One of its recent design examples is the Lacoste LT Spirit 117 which is composed of a breathable textile upper with synthetic overlays from the toe to the heel counter for added protection. The signature Croc detailing is showcased on the lateral side panels giving the nod to its iconic label.
