Good to know
-The La Sportiva Solution Comp, the Solution’s softer sibling, is built for climbers who need bolstered sensitivity in their step. Its responsiveness is further enhanced by its slip-lasted construction.
-It is engineered with the figure-8 sling-shot tensioning system. This patented technology helps users send problems with a combination of power and precision, especially around the forefoot.
-Compared with the regular La Sportiva Solution, the Solution Comp has a lower profile. As such, the shoe in question is capable of handling small projections and features with improved efficiency.
Downturn. This performance-oriented climbing shoe comes with a highly downturned toe box. Its downward camber affords the wearer with sufficient purchase on extra tricky footholds. Aggressive rock kicks like the Solution Comp favor short climbs and single-pitch ascents.
Applications. The La Sportiva Solution Comp is made mainly for sport-type problems. It comes equipped with components that capacitate senders to scale vertical faces and overhangs safely, whether indoors or outdoors. It is primarily designed for intermediate climbers.
La Sportiva’s Solution Comp is a low-cut rock climbing shoe for men and women. Its highly asymmetric interior—thanks to the PD 75 last—will likely drive the foot to bend or curve inward in it. Since it has a partly leather upper, its confines might stretch to a degree with time.
Fit customization is possible via the Solution Comp’s Fast Lacing System. This brand-owned lacing technology comes with the heel-lock harness system, which, as its name suggests, keeps the heel securely in place.
Midsole. This aggressive climbing shoe from La Sportiva provides extra support with its proprietary Laspoflex midsole, which has an overall thickness of 0.9 mm. It is located around the shoe’s toe region. Its designers imbued it with P3 or Permanent Power Platform—a brand-exclusive randing tech that prevents the shoe from losing its downturned shape.
Outsole. The La Sportiva Solution Comp’s provision of surface traction (underfoot) is sourced from its Vibram outsole, called XS Grip 2. It has a level of firmness that grants enhanced slip resistance on edge-type projections. Its engineers gave it a segmented construction to promote the shoe’s flexibility. 3.5 mm is its thickness.
The low-top shell of the Solution Comp is a combination of hard-wearing leather and microfiber. Both its heel and toe regions are engineered with the Pacific liner for added in-shoe comfort. Its breathable tongue is made of Lycra fabric. A pair of synthetic pull tabs are stitched firmly to its heel for quicker on and off.
At its heel is a rubberized tensioned rand for heel-hooking grip. What gives users enough toe-hooking traction, on the other hand, is the shoe’s forefoot rand and toe rubber patch.
A Velcro-type closure is what completes the Solution Comp’s upper equation. It uses an adjustable strap with a hook-and-loop tab. This strap is set through beveled slots, which are plated for longevity.
La Sportiva’s list of quality rock climbing kicks is made longer by the addition of the Solution Comp. This shoe has quickly gained popularity since its launch, and as such, prompts climbers far and wide to compare it with other climbing shoes from the same brand. In this head to head, the featured shoe sees a rival in the La Sportiva Solution. Find out their main differences by reading through the following:
Asking price. Both climbing shoes in this comparison are premium-priced. That said, between the two competing kicks, the Solution is cheaper by roughly $5. Folks who wish to climb in an inexpensive pair might want to check out some of the budget-friendliest offerings featured on this site.
Midsole technology. As previously mentioned (see: Performance>Midsole), the Solution Comp is furnished at the toe with the Laspoflex midsole. Its rival also sports the same supportive component. That said, the one in the featured shoe is thinner than the Solution’s by approximately 0.2 mm.
Sticking power. Both La Sportiva climbing shoes in this head to head come equipped with the same Vibram outsole—the XS Grip 2. The one in the Solution Comp, however, is thinner than the Solution’s by about 0.5 mm.
