These are the lightest—literally, literally the lightest boots I've ever held in my hands.
Overall, these shoes actually made me a better person. That’s because at the end of a long day my feet feel good, and when your feet feel good, life is good.
It was a very difficult hike, but the La Sportiva Core High GTX Boot saved my feet.
I can honestly say I haven’t had a more comfortable and versatile experience in a hiking boot.
Looking back at my time in Ranger Battalion I would have killed for a boot like this.
So I took Sportiva’s new Core High GTX on a very rugged, 20-mile dayhike in New Hampshire’s White Mountains, and backpacking for three days in Idaho’s Sawtooths, and found them ideal for light hiking and super breathable.
- The Vibram Nano Outsole works with the Impact Brake System to provide higher traction on challenging terrain and improve the boot’s durability. These technologies allow adequate hiking footwear performance required by the wearer for a long time.
- The compression-molded EVA midsole and the EVA insert provide optimum underfoot comfort. The midsole is unified with upper through the STB Technology. The boot’s interior feels comfortably snug and soft against the skin.
- This hiker features the proprietary Nano-Cell Technology and underneath it is the AirMesh. Both work together for ventilation purposes. The setup is kept in position with the help of TPU lacing which locks the foot effectively throughout the hiking session. Moreover, the Gore-Tex lining makes the La Sportiva Core High GTX waterproof. The toe cap in the forefoot region shields the toe from stubbing and prevents possible scrapes and abrasions.
The La Sportiva Core High GTX hiking boot is offered to both men and women. It has a semi-curved shape which easily adapts to the natural shape of the foot. The feature increases the efficiency of the footwear and results in better performance on a variety of surfaces. It is built on the Tempo last, providing a wider fit.
The Vibram Nano Outsole offers enough traction and allows the individual to hike on slippery surfaces with ease. The technology enhances the long-term durability of the shoe and helps maintain its performance for a considerably longer duration of time.
The Impact Brake System in the outsole consists of opposing, diagonal lugs which, as the brand claims, increases friction by 20% and also decreases the effect of impact forces by 20%.
The shoe houses the STB Technology which stabilizes the interior by unifying the upper with the midsole along the medial zone. This feature enhances torsional resistance. It also enables to shoe to hug the foot snugly, providing comfort, stability and a locked-down fit.
The compression-molded ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) midsole offers comfort and flexibility. It distributes impact forces evenly over the whole surface area, thereby reducing the risk of injury and increasing durability of the pair. The cushioning is further enhanced with the help of the TPU insert placed above the EVA midsole. It also feels very soft against the skin.
The AirMesh upper with the innovative Nano-Cell Technology offers an optimal combination of comfort, breathability, and waterproofness. The mesh material allows the air to enter and adequately ventilate the interior, thereby causing the foot to remain comfortably dry and cool throughout the hiking session. The cells also give structure to the boot. The material also maintains a snug fit around the foot and prevents the formation of blisters after long hikes. Moreover, the TPU toe cap in the forefoot region shields the toes from injuries which may when the foot accidentally strikes against pointed protrusions, roots and rocks jutting out at unexpected locations. The PU leather is used in the forefoot section, overlays and on the cuff.
The La Sportiva Core High GTX utilizes the TPU lacing system. The flexible laces give a feel of customized fit to the user and remain tied to their positions throughout the day. The system prevents unwanted sliding of the foot inside the footwear which could cause discomfort to the user.
The Gore-Tex waterproof lining, as the company claims, ensures both a hundred percent waterproofness and complete breathability. It keeps out the moisture and at the same time allows the fresh air to enter and circulate, thereby keeping a healthy environment inside the boot for the user. This Gore-Tex Surround membrane keeps the hiker’s foot dry and fresh even at high temperatures, achieving a 360-degree comfort.
