Women can also wear the shoes with a lovely romper or jumpsuit, shorts and jeans paired with a summer blouse, and even a cute looking summer dress; the possibilities are endless.
The enduring spirit of K-Swiss is kept alive with the K-Swiss Classic 66 USA’s design being as accurate and as close it can possibly be to the original, a stitch-for-stitch replica down to the last specification. This mere fact alone is enough to be a noteworthy feature of the low-top.
It is good to take note that quality has not been sacrificed when making this pair. The whole shoe is constructed from premium white leather with stitched stripes featured on the side walls while still having the original silver D-ring lacing system that K-Swiss is known for in place. Rounding off the classic silhouette is the embossed K-Swiss branding and the iconic three-piece toe design, a design added in the past to make the shoes perform well in a game of tennis.
With the quality craftsmanship crafted into the shoe, superb comfort is guaranteed along with a superb fit, and with this reissue, the K-Swiss Classic 66 USA lives up to the original, a classic that stood the test of time.
K-Swiss Classic 66 USA History
Quintessential on and off the field of sports, K-Swiss has designed a brilliant roster of shoes for the last 50 years or so, making great shoes that have become must-haves for collectors and sneaker enthusiasts alike. Introduced in 1966, K-Swiss is a footwear company founded by Swiss brothers Art and Ernest Brunner whose passion and obsession with skiing and tennis initiated their drive to build the company.
It started out with the hunt for a pair of tennis shoes that the brothers could use on the court; shoes that were stylish and sturdy, comfy and durable to wear and play in. Searching high and low, the Brunner brothers could not find any. But soon, the two realized that there was a business opportunity for shoes that fit the criteria they wanted, and instead of looking for it, they set out to create it.
The first shoe K-Swiss came out with was the K-Swiss Classic. The pair was an all-leather tennis shoe, the first in America. It lifted inspiration from a ski boot wherein the design of the ski boot was applied to the Classic. This design was revolutionary for tennis shoes as it supported and combated wear and tear from the aggressiveness of the side to side court movement when playing tennis.
For a little while, the Classic was the only shoe that K-Swiss had, and it took the brand nearly 20 years before it decided to release the second style in 1986. Still, development would not flourish for the company until 1990, the year it went public. Going public had its benefit for K-Swiss, and its growth surged forward. Soon, K-Swiss not only entered the tennis market but also went into aerobics, basketball, walking, and hiking, seeing a potential for shoes to thrive in these chosen markets as well.
Despite K-Swiss diversifying its products and shoes, the love for the original, the K-Swiss Classic, endured and this prompted the brand to release and reissue it. A 50th-anniversary edition called the K-Swiss Classic 66 USA came out in 2016. Only 1,966 pairs of the low-tops were released internationally. The K-Swiss Classic 66 USA brings back a whole lot of nostalgia in a shoe that has remained and has been identified as a symbol of American tennis.
