Bottom line

The Jordan AJ1 Explorer XX supersedes other sneakers with sky-high collar because of the complementing translucent ankle tops, which are ironically perfect for sporting casually on the streets per se.

Although deemed to be one of the tallest iterations from the Air Jordan collection, the AJ1 Explorer XX is still lightweight. Don't be fooled by its airy-ness as it is also durable thanks to its premium construction. Retailing at $145, one can never go wrong with the sneaker which also has a versatile adjustable design.

The original lining and leather exterior of the Air Jordan 1 was revamped in this sneaker making it into a mesh-leather-synthetic upper combo which administers a super comfortable feel. An encapsulated Air-Sole unit at the heel provides impact protection which is supported by a molded OrthoLite™ sockliner.

Women can grab a pair which is available in full and half sizes. It is also built in a women's medium width of B.

Numerous styles and outfit combinations can be partnered with the Jordan AJ1 Explorer XX due to its multifaceted outlook. The high top collar can be folded down to project a relaxed image and at the same time can be sported as is with its translucent material perfect for showing off multi-colored socks. Toned-down apparel like jeans and a blazer would also suffice but for those who want an edgier look can sport the pair with camos or torn-up pants.

Two prominent colorways were released namely the Luminous Green and the inaugural Off White colorway. The high top collar can be scrunched down into a fold which would then display a Nike branding on its back. The sneaker also features thirteen pairs of eyelets which rest upon a redesigned mesh/leather upper with translucent upgrades on the ankle top.

Since its pre-hype in the 1980s, the Jordan franchise was never shaken down by competitors because it bears the name of the generally known "greatest player of all time." Although the pilot model should be the one to be blamed for its success, subsequent iterations on the Jordan line served as pillars for its popularity stretching the present. And as the years progressed, giving homage to the original heritage tend to be more valuable. The Air Jordan 1 is such a lucky sneaker.

After years of its existence, Nike and Jordan Brand bumped their heads together to replenish the long lost love for feminine apparel that also honors the AJ 1. The Nike family consolidated female designers led by Georgina James which is followed by Magnhild Disngton, Jacqueline Schoeffel, Chiyo Takashi, Marie Crow, Louisa Page, Angela Martin, Kara Nykreim, Marie Odinot, Melusine Dieudonne, Jesi Small, Jin Hong, Shamees Aden, and Reba Brammer.

The resulting product is a collection called '1 Reimagined' which also enlists the coveted Air Force 1 model. The female-focused line includes ten iterations revolving around five concepts which are lover, sage, rebel, jester, and explorer. The AJ1 franchise features the Jordan AJ1 Lover XX, Jordan AJ1 Sage XX, Jordan AJ1 Rebel XX, Jordan AJ1 Jester XX, and Jordan AJ1 Explorer XX.

The last one which is Jordan AJ1 Explorer XX reinstills an outdoor gear look to the vintage sneaker but with a contemporary taste. The designers took the high top collar and extended it further up and gave it a translucent detail implying that fashion can be dangerous but at the same time fun. The sneaker was set to hit select stores in February of 2018.

  • The sneaker maintains a rubber cupsole construction for underfoot protection and grip.
  • The insole is also removable.
  • A tug feature at the back of the collar provides an adjustable snug which can be used when folding the extended collar.
  • For its initial release, sneaker retailed for $145.
