What is it for? This MTB shoe is equipped with features applied to cater to the following cycling pursuits:
- Cyclocross racing

Rigidity. The Shimano XC701 employs carbon fiber reinforced soles. This material is lightweight and very rigid. It is rated 9 out of 12 in the brand's stiffness index chart.
High traction. These cycling shoes offer excellent grip and durability with an exclusive Michelin tread pattern and dual-density rubber compounds.
Additional slots for toe spikes. These optional features offer the choice for wearers to further enhance this shoe's traction for extreme conditions. These spike slots can accommodate 18 mm spikes. Note that the spikes are sold separately.
