As stated above, the Fizik Infinito X1 is the R1’s MTB counterpart. Hence it is considered as the brand’s range-topping model in the mountain shoe category. It is decked out with the latest technologies, design, and materials.
Up above, the foot is enveloped in a plush and lightweight material called Microtex, while high-wear areas employ reinforcements for impact protection. Double BOA dials help keep the foot in place and provide micro-adjustments.
Lastly, a unidirectional carbon sole offers excellent power transfer via its superbly stiff construct, while aggressive lugs supply essential traction.
Optimal stiffness. Built over full unidirectional carbon soles, the Infinito X1’s rigidity effortlessly transfers your power into the pedals. In the cycling shoe world, this type of sole material is considered the finest.
Excellent stiffness. Pronounced rubber lugs are strategically placed throughout the sole for grip and stability on any surface. Mud clearance is also incorporated in the tread design to prevent difficulties in clipping in and out.
Accommodates toe studs. Stud slots are situated in the toe area so the user can install spikes for extra traction. These inserts are protected by screw bolts. Note that the toe stud spikes are sold separately.
The Fizik Infinito X1 utilizes the traditional MTB cleat design, 2-bolt. It can be used with these MTB pedals: Time ATAC XC8 Carbon, Shimano XTR M9020, and Crank Brother Mallet Enduro.
The cleat plate has ample length space for optimal cleat positioning.
Plush and comfortable yet protective. Laser perforated Microtex material keeps the foot in place and prevents hotspots. High-wear areas employ added reinforcements to enhance durability and impact protection.
On-the-fly fit adjustments. Two BOA IP1-B dials with nylon-covered wires provide the wearer with a custom fit and easy fine-tuning while on the saddle. This closure system also eliminates pressure points.
Improved fit is guaranteed thanks to the brand’s Volume Control system. Unlike previous models that employed one-piece uppers, shoes that feature this system now have two main sections. This divides the upper into two regions: top and lower, which meet in the medial arch area.
The lower region hugs the rear part of the foot, while the top region cinches the forefoot area. As a whole, this provides a custom fit for respective portions of the foot and reduces hotspots.
This shoe comes with Fizik’s standard insole made from perforated EVA foam. It keeps the foot comfortable and fresh despite harsh trails and warm weather.
