Don’t get me wrong, they’re excellent shoes and some people might be looking for a little more support, or like the styling better, but give the 235v2’s a shot and I promise you won’t be disappointed. The purist experience just can’t be replicated by anything other than the Inov-8 F-Lite 235’s.
Big thumbs up! Some changes I didn't even think about and I really like these. I'll be using them a lot in the future.
From the low drop, to the rope climb ruggedness, to the lightness, the flexibility, etc. Inov8 was the first to put it all together and the F-Lite 235 V2 continues that tradition with a strong offering for a unique looking and feeling shoe in the space.
For all other movements, these have been solid. Squats, burpees, box jumps, double unders . . . they hold up nicely. With the reinforced toe box and heel, I don’t predict any problems with tearing in the upper which has been my only complaint in the past with Inov8.
Updates to Inov-8 F-Lite 235 v2
- The Inov-8 F-Lite 235 v2 is a minimalist cross-training shoe that is specially designed to keep up with the full range of functional fitness workouts. Some of its design elements were derived from the original Inov-8 F-Lite 235, but the F-Lite 235 v2 managed to create its own aesthetic identity, thanks to the addition of new features, which also serve a purpose.
- The upper is still made of lightweight mesh material, but this time, it has been upgraded with their AdapterFit technology to naturally conform to the foot. Another technology that has been added to the upper is a gusseted, soft, elastic mesh liner that locks down the midfoot to provide a snug and customized fit.
- The midsole has a denser heel which uses Inov-8’s proprietary Powerheel technology, making the heel 40% sturdier than the forefoot. It has a minimal 0 heel-to-toe drop.
- The outsole features a geometric pattern that allows for maximum ground contact. Meanwhile, the forefoot has the META FLEX flex grooves that promote natural flexion to enable explosive, natural, and efficient movements. This complements the sticky rubber bottom that provides good grip and traction.
Inov-8 F-Lite 235 v2 fit and size
This training shoe from Inov-8 has versions for both men and women. The width’s measurement is D - Medium for men and B - Medium for Women. However, the shoe has a Standard Fit, which means that it has a close-fitting heel for enhanced support and a wider toe box for a comfortable toe-splay.
The outsole of the Inov-8 F-Lite 235 v2 boasts of a thick rubber toe cap that cushions the toes from burpees. Meanwhile, the Rope-Tec 360 wraps around outsole and extends to the upper to protect the shoe against the damage from rope climbing exercises.
The geometric-patterned bottom is made of sticky rubber that allows for good traction and grip while making it possible for maximum ground contact.
The shoe’s forefoot also has the META FLEX grooves. They accommodate natural flexion that enables increased efficiency and flexibility for plyometrics and cardio-focused activities.
The midsole consists of a heel made from the brand’s Powerheel technology, making it 40% denser than the forefoot. It helps in creating a firm and stable platform for heavy lifting while still offering cushioning and flexibility for agility and speed workouts.
The Inov-8 F-lite 235 v2 employs the brand’s proprietary Dynamic Fascia Band. It is an anatomically designed technology built into the heel to give a spring to every step. It replicates the windlass effect.
The F-Lite 235 v2’s lightweight and breathable mesh upper uses the AdapterFit technology to organically conform to the foot without inhibiting movement.
The midfoot is secured with the Met-cradle, a soft, elastic, and gusseted mesh liner that works with the lacing system to secure the midfoot in place, giving a customized and snug fit.
The heel counter features a Y-lock system that locks down the heel to give the necessary support when lifting heavy weights.
