Summary

We spent 9.6 hours reading reviews from experts and users. In summary, this is what sneaker fanatics think:

10 reasons to buy

  • The HUF Hupper 2 Lo is very budget-friendly.
  • Its durability is jaw-dropping, overwhelming many skaters, with a few claiming it to be one of the longest-lasting pairs they’ve skated in.
  • Some skaters remark that the shoe feels so comfortable and cushioned enough to allow them to jump down a flight of stairs without hurting their feet.
  • Its simple yet sick-looking silhouette looks great not only for skate sessions but also for road trips and hangouts, according to some users.
  • A couple of skaters like how nice its flick is and how it improved their flip tricks.
  • Its hard-wearing geometric-tread outsole is very grippy and has lots of board feel, according to a couple of users.
  • A few skaters say that the raised foxing tape gives the shoe a deeper fit, which keeps their feet more protected.
  • Several buyers regard the Hupper 2 Lo as among HUF’s best skate shoes so far.
  • The sidewalls hold up their shape very well amid harsh skating sessions, some users have observed.
  • Quite a handful of satisfied customers are already thinking of getting another pair.

4 reasons not to buy

  • Its canvas upper is slightly on the thin side and doesn’t have much overall padding, according to a few wearers.
  • Some skaters mention that the shoe feels stiff, heavy, and clunky at the beginning and needs to be broken in.
  • The upper doesn’t have perforations for breathability, so the feet feel hot and sweaty after a few hours of wear, according to several users.
  • The shoelaces are not well protected, causing them to rip quite fast, a couple of skaters have reported.

Bottom line

HUF introduces the Hupper 2 Lo, a killer in the durability department. It has surprised numerous skaters with how well it withstands daily shredding. Its upper mostly comprises of canvas, with abrasion-treated suede placed in wear areas. A raised 3D foxing tape and a hidden rubber toe cap further extend the life of the upper.

Comfort-wise, a dual-density Perfshock insole provides nice impact protection. Underneath that, a HUG infinity rubber outsole delivers excellent board feel and very sticky grip. With all these incredible features, the Hupper 2 Lo sits friendly at $75.

The HUF Hupper 2 Lo’s foxing tape is raised higher compared to most vulc shoes. That feature gives the shoe more depth, making way for a more stable and protected ride. It’s designed to reduce ankle rolls.

Its low-top design allows the ankles to retain their full range of mobility, while a traditional lace-up closure, with seven reinforced eyelets, locks the feet down with custom fitting.

At first glance, the Hupper 2 Lo looks like a basic skate shoe on feet. However, upon a closer look, one sees that it has an unusual silhouette, due to its extended foxing tape, which gives it a slightly elevated look. It’s an excellent contrast to its slim, polished profile.

That said, this simple-looking sneaker seamlessly goes well with casual, staple clothing for both sexes, such as denims, jeans, chinos, shorts, and the like. Furthermore, the Hupper 2 Lo comes in a variety of colorways to match any style—hibiscus, black velvet, navy moonlight, aluminum, port, and more.

Despite its clean, minimal look, the Hupper 2 Lo boasts of almost obsessive attention to detail, from the ground up, inside and out. For example, the Perfshock EVA insole features perforations that trap pockets of air in varying densities. This provides excellent rebound and impact protection. Also, its padding goes thinner at the heel and toe ends for board feel and goes thicker at the midfoot area for cushioning.

Digging deep into their roots for inspiration, HUF has created a simple, classic-looking skate shoe equipped with fresh technologies. The Hupper 2 Lo was derived from one of HUF’s earliest flagship models, the Hupper Numero Uno, which was a high-top sneaker. While most of HUF's model focused on board feel, the Hupper 2 Lo was among the few that focused more on cushioning.

  • The Perfshock insole is removable to accommodate orthotics.
  • Depending on the colorway, the Hupper 2 Lo can have a mix of canvas, suede, and leather or full versions.
