  • 70 / 100 | Lenny Sunday

If I had to give it a score... I wanna give it an 8 out of 10, but I'd wanna dock out a point just because sizing, weight and everything that's different from the original model, and the fact that the original model had way more cushioning. This one seems a lot lower to the ground.

Updates to Hoka One One Odyssey 2

  • The Hoka One One Odyssey 2 features a new midsole. It comes with oversized EVA midsole foam. It is lighter and softer than the traditional EVA foam. This midsole foam delivers a lightweight cushioning for effective underfoot protection.
  • The upper of the Odyssey 2 was also improved. Aside from the seamless construction, the tongue was also padded. It delivers a plush fit for a more comfortable ride on the pavement.

Hoka One One Odyssey 2 size and fit

The Odyssey 2 is available in standard running shoe length. The medium fit in the heel and the midfoot area is identical with the original version. The forefoot is a bit narrow. This shoe provides an impressive fit to those narrow footed runners. This shoe is available in standard D and B widths for men’s and women’s respectively.

The full ground contact platform of the shoe provides great ground feel while giving increased traction and promotes a smoother heel-to-toe transition. The outer sole uses the Hi-Abrasion Lightweight rubber that is extended in the entire sole for traction and durability. The rubber pods also provide added durability on high wear areas without sacrificing cushioning.

The midsole of the Odyssey 2 uses an oversized EVA midsole that delivers soft cushioning. It is lighter and is 30% softer as compared to the traditional EVA midsole foam. It also provides enhanced cushioning and added support. The Nike Zoom Strike 2 is another running shoe with a similarly constructed midsole that makes it perfect for races.

The Early Stage Meta-Rocker Geometry is designed to provide a smoother ride and enhanced propulsion.

The upper of the Hoka One One Odyssey 2 features the seamless air mesh upper that delivers a lightweight and breathable coverage. The no-sew midfoot support delivers added support and stability.

Hoka One One also includes a synthetic support strapping on the Odyssey 2, which is designed to hold the foot in place while running and give lightweight support. The padded tongue improves the step in feel for a comfortable fit.
