Updates to Hoka One One EG Hupana
- The upper is made of knitting with an open pattern. The material is stretchable, adapting to any shape while wrapping the foot comfortably. The pattern of the material ensures maximum breathability from within the shoe.
- The midsole is made of a material called RMAT. It is light enough not to weight runners down during runs, but it still delivers a good amount of protection. Also, it is mainly responsible for delivering a responsive and dynamic ride.
- The outsole is made of the same material as the midsole. RMAT, as an outsole material, delivers sufficient protection while granting a good amount of rebound to the runner. It also complements the tread pattern at the bottom of the shoe when it comes to traction and grip, most ideal for road running.
Hoka One One EG Hupana size and fit
The Hoka One One EG Hupana is available in Unisex sizes. Runners who are interested in a pair can make use of the sizing guide on the Hoka One One website for accuracy. It clearly states the right size for both men and women runners. The width is available in the standard measurement.
RMAT is a special foam made of blended rubber EVA. As the shoe’s outsole, it is capable of gripping unto common surfaces and has even been proven to display better grip on wet ones. It is also durable enough to withstand the beating garnered during runs, slightly extending the life of the shoe.
Flex grooves on the rear and forefoot areas of the outsole complement the amount of traction delivered by the RMAT material. The pattern also promotes natural mobility, ensuring optimal movement with every stride. Such a design allows for a quick pace, which is perfect for race days; the Nike Epic React Flyknit 2 boasts of a similar benefit with its construction, albeit with different materials.
RMAT is also the main material of the midsole. It offers responsive cushioning and has been proven to withstand the gradual reduction in the height of the platform that naturally comes with continued shoe usage. Because the midsole was formed into a rocker, it delivers a smoother transition between the phases of the running cycle as well.
The upper of the Hoka One One EG Hupana was made in collaboration with Engineered Garments, a New York-based fashion label by designer Daiki Suzuki. It consists of asymmetrical designs that are eye-catching, making the running shoe ready for street wear.
Knitted fabric makes up the upper. This material easily accommodates different foot shapes, making the fit secure yet comfortable with proper ventilation. Because the upper doesn’t have the traditional stitches and seams, it lessens the likelihood of irritation.
The shoe is equipped with a traditional lace-up closure with a guidance loop on the tongue so the laces can stay in place. Hoka decided to put in flat shoelaces to prevent them from unraveling easily when the runner is in motion.
