A car could run over my feet with these on and I wouldn’t even feel a thing.
[I]f James Bond was Scandinavian, he'd wear the Grünten.
I have taken these to many places. From the top of Mt. Fuji to Nevada’s desert to the train stations of Europe. They are light enough to hike in but tough enough for light rock “climbing”.
The Hanwag Grunten is a footgear aimed at hikers who need extra support and protection on trails and cityscapes alike. It is classified as a B category boot which makes it capable of providing adequate performance on both extended hikes and light trekking adventures. It is engineered with a flex zone at the heel for more give when navigating the trickier parts of the terrain.
This hiking gear provides sufficient surface traction on the trail with its Vibram outsole. It can be re-soled (replaced with a new one) by a qualified shoemaker or Hanwag’s team of footwear crafters. Resoling fees apply.
A generally true-to-size, mid-cut day hiking boot for men and women is the Hanwag Grunten. It is offered in full and half sizes in regular width. Its closure system with clamping lace hooks provides a speedy approach to fit personalization and security.
Thanks to the Grunten’s Vibram Guffert rubber outsole, wearers can travel across a variety of outdoor surfaces with enough grip and slip resistance. It bites into loose soil for an even more secure footing with its multi-directional lugs. It also comes built with a marked heel to yield extra stopping power during downhill maneuvers.
Cushioning and stability over uneven terrain are courtesy of the hiker’s ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) midsole. The heavy underfoot impact is mitigated by a shock-absorbing unit at its heel. It is paired with a removable contoured footbed for additional support and extra comfort underfoot.
The Grunten is a buffed full-grain leather hiking boot with a mid-top design. For added comfort, Hanwag designers gave it a leather lining with moisture management. For a rub-free in-shoe feel, on the other hand, the engineers gave the boot a tongue made of soft leather.
Its lockdown system features metallic eyelets which are comprised of open hooks and closed loops. A lace made up of synthetic cords is set through them.
