Updates to Hanwag Brenner Wide GTX

  • The beefy look of the Hanwag Brenner Wide GTX is primarily linked to its waxed nubuck upper, made extra sturdy for more support. It is lined with a Gore-Tex laminate for water protection.
  • Its sole unit, which include the Vibram Endurance outsole, is solidly built, making the Brenner Wide GTX a B-category boot. This type of sole construction is ideal for entry-level treks and long hikes.
  • The Brenner Wide GTX has undergone Hanwag’s special kind of cementing construction process. This type of build permits the user to have the boot’s outsole replaced for a fee.

Hanwag Brenner Wide GTX size and fit

Hanwag’s Brenner Wide GTX is an over-the-ankle backpacking boot for men and women. Its fit is generally true to size. It is offered in whole and half sizes in wide width. Its quick lace-up closure allows wearers to achieve a personalized and secure lockdown.

Outsole

Directly taking the punches of the rough terrain is the Brenner Wide GTX’s grippy yet flexible Vibram Endurance outsole. It is generously peppered with protrusions (or lugs), shaped and placed in such a way that provides the backpacker with multi-directional traction. The central lugs are circular and adequately spaced apart to disperse water for increased slip resistance.

Midsole

This trekking boot steadies the backpacker’s footing with its cushy polyurethane midsole. PU is a material that's resilient yet has more elasticity and flexibility.

The component has a noticeably chunky build, especially at the heel, to protect the wearer from shocks and pointy hazards. Fitted snugly on top of this stabilizing layer is the footgear’s energy-transferring graded memory insole. It has the ability to go back to its original form thanks to its shape-retaining characteristic.

Upper

The Brenner Wide GTX’s high-cut upper is mainly made of waxed nubuck leather. Its base region is protected from abrasive hazards with a durable rubber rand. It is engineered with a waterproof membrane from Gore-Tex, keeping virtually all sorts of wet elements at bay. Furthermore, its ankle collar is amply padded and perforated for an airy kind of comfort.

Responsible for granting wearers their desired fit is the gear’s lacing system. It makes quick configurations possible thanks to its metallic open hooks and ball bearing eyelets.
