-Touted as eco-friendly hiking footwear, the Skuta Mid Proof Eco is completely free from fluorocarbon (PFC) - a chemical used to make outdoor shoes and apparel water-resistant. For its waterproof construction, the boot is lined with the PROOF ECO membrane which is made from recycled, eco-friendly materials.
-The boot also features the AHAR Plus rubber outsole with engineered patterns for increased traction, stability, and durability.
-Lastly, the boot comes with GEL™ rearfoot cushioning that helps reduce impact, absorb shock, and promote comfort.
The Skuta Mid Proof Eco is a mid-cut hiking/trekking boot for men and women. Since the upper is made from leather, the boot conforms to the shape of the foot after some breaking in. It also features a wide toe box for a more natural foot movement.
Lastly, this boot utilizes a traditional lacing system, with hooks on top for easy fit adjustment.
The Skuta Mid Proof Eco outsole is made with high abrasion-resistance rubber from ASICS. It’s designed to provide additional grip and traction while offering good cushioning. The AHAR Plus is said to be three times more resistant to abrasion than conventional rubber. It is also 50% lighter.
For the midsole, this boot features molded EVA. Compared to other cushioning materials, EVA is much lighter, durable, flexible, and slip-resistant. For added cushioning and comfort, the Skuta Mid Proof Eco integrates the GEL rearfoot technology which is also designed by ASICS.
Here, a specially formulated silicone gel is placed in the rearfoot to reduce impact during heel strike, and in the forefoot to boost shock absorption during forward movement.
The shoe upper is made with eco-friendly suede leather. Mesh fabric is incorporated in the vamp all through the tongue which adds some breathability to the shoe. All surfaces are also treated with PFC-free durable water repellent (DWR) to protect against water and dirt.
Moreover, the boot is lined with the PROOF ECO membrane - a waterproof lining made from recycled or bluesign approved fabrics. According to Haglofs, this membrane has been tested in 100,000 steps. The company also claims that the PROOF ECO has scored high on breathability, ranging from 10,000 to 20,000 grams. All these suggest that the Skuta Mid Proof Eco is suitable for varying weather conditions.
Completing the upper is a lace-up closure system that gives the wearer a snug, adjustable fit each time. It features flat laces that help minimize pressure points on the feet.
