For a fit that’ll make you say “ahh” right out of the box, a pedaling platform that’ll take you from the group ride through race season, and a price that’s not too crazy, the Raes is worth a look.
The Raes Techlace by Giro is explicitly designed for the female road cyclist. It is recommended for its lightweight performance fused with great looks. The shoe also features the brand’s signature Techlace technology. This closure system ensures an adjustable, comfortable fit.
The perfect balance of stiffness and comfort. The Raes Techlace features the Easton EC70 outsole technology. Giro’s sister company called Easton makes it. This outsole technology is made from a carbon/glass composite material. The combination provides sufficient stiffness for good power transfer and flexibility for walking comfort.
Ventilated. This shoe features a ventilation hole. This hole is a carved out pocket in the outsole and is screened with steel hardware.
Replaceable heel pads. Heel pads provide stability and traction off the bike. These are usually the first ones to wear out. With this model’s renewable heel pads, the users are offered great value for their money as it lengthens the lifespan of the shoe.
Designed as a road cycling shoe, the Giro Raes Techlace naturally employs a three-bolt cleat design. This cleat system is deemed to be more appropriate for road cycling than the two-bolt iteration. Why? Because it provides a more secure connection to the pedal, and road terrains almost never have obstacles that require the rider to often clip out of the pedal.
Try the following pedal designs with the Raes Techlace: Shimano PD-M520, Look Keo 2 Max Blade 12, Shimano Ultegra SPD-SL R8000, Speedplay Zero, and Time Xpresso 15.
Light, secure, and convenient closure. This pair employs a combination of two innovative closures: Techlace and BOA L6 dial. The Techlace technology secures the mid and forefoot. It features the comfort of laces and the convenience of the strap. The straps are meant to replace any hardware that comes with laces to provide a supple feel across the foot.
The BOA L6 dial simultaneously locks the foot down by securing the top foot. It offers 1mm increments when tightening and easy pull-to-release function for easy on and off.
Breathable and comfortable upper. Crafted with the Evofiber technology, this pair makes use of the best attributes of mesh and microfiber. These two materials are welded and bonded into a single fabric. Together they repel water and provide proper ventilation throughout.
Prevents hotspots. The one-piece upper construct helps eliminate unnecessary seams and adhesives that cause rubbing and hotspots. It also helps get rid of excess weight.
Durable and provides stability. Equipped with toe and heel microfiber reinforcements, the shoe’s durability is enhanced. They also provide added structure to the shoe and offers excellent stability to the wearer.
The Raes Techlace is a women’s exclusive cycling shoe designed after the ladies’ naturally narrower foot shape. The Techlace system replaces other hardware with laces for a more supple feel throughout the forefoot. An adjustable arch support system is provided for a more personalized fit and comfort.
Interchangeable arch support foams. The Raes Techlace cycling shoe makes use of the brand’s famous SuperNatural Fit System. This is a technology found in the footbed. Giro stepped it up a notch by providing three arch support foams with different arch levels. Users can choose between the S, M, and L arch sizes and use the most suitable one according to their foot shape. The foams can be attached and detached by Velcro.
Anti-microbial Treatment. This pair incorporates X-Static Fibre technology. This innovation utilizes natural silver properties to provide anti-microbial and heat-conducting properties. It helps keep the foot warm and the shoes free from odor-causing bacteria and fungus - keeping your footwear feeling and looking fresh.
- The shoe’s collar is padded for added in-step comfort.
- Branding can be seen on the upper’s lateral and rear parts.
- Upon purchase, the Raes Techlace comes with a shoe bag, a user’s manual, and spare cleat bolts.
