The Giro Privateer Lace is the lace-up version of the brand’s popular Privateer shoe. It was released during the resurgence of lace-up cycling shoes. Hence this shoe was considered the logical revolution of the original. This new design offers its wearers a fuss-free and lightweight performance on the trail.

Its microfiber uppers feature reinforced toecaps for protection and comfort. Down low, a co-molded nylon sole with rubber lugs offers satisfactory rigidity and traction.

This model continues its lineage's famous legacy among cyclocross riders, mountain cyclists, and gravel grinders. It combines the comfort of the Empire lineage and the durability of the Privateer.

A balance between flex and rigidity. The Giro Privateer Lace employs a co-molded nylon sole, which provides adequate stiffness for power transfer. It also features a little bit of yield for hike-a-bike comfort.

Grip. Equipped with aggressive rubber lugs and steel spike accommodation, this shoe will keep the wearer upright no matter how muddy and slippery the trail is. Please note that steel toe spikes are sold separately.

The Giro Privateer Lace is compatible with MTB pedals that feature the 2-bolt cleat design (or SPD). Some of the pedals you can pair with this model are any of Shimano’s SPD pedals, Time’s ATAC pedals, and any of Look’s MTB pedals.

Indoor cycling practitioners can also use this pair in fitness studios that use 2-bolt pedals for their stationary fitness bikes.

Easy to clean material. Crafted from microfiber material, tidying up after every session is bound to be effortless.

Time-tested retention system. The traditional lace-up system offers a lightweight and hotspot-free fit. It might not be as easily adjustable as its more modern counterparts, but it provides durability in the trails as no hardware's prone to breakage.

A lace keeper is also provided to help keep laces from getting caught in the pedal arm or crankset.

Abrasion-resistant and protective. Giro applied rock print toe and heel overlays along with extra reinforcements in the toe cap area to enhance durability and protection against impacts and scuffs.

The Giro Privateer Lace employs insoles made from molded EVA for added comfort. They are also designed to provide medium arch support.
