- The Garmont Ushuaya GTX is a mid-cut trekking boot that’s built for use in cold weather conditions. Its polyurethane (PU) and fabric upper contains a Gore-Tex Insulated Comfort for water protection and insulation.
- Cushioning and stability are supplied by the boot’s bi-density expanded ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) midsole. Its Vibram IceTrek outsole provides traction on slick and snowy surfaces.
Garmont’s Ushuaya GTX is available for both men and women in regular width. It comes in a range of whole and half-sizes. The footwear’s lace-up closure system grants a personalized lockdown to the wearer. Also, the boot runs relatively true to size.
This winter hiker uses Garmont’s Anatomically Direct Design (a.d.d.) technology. It features an asymmetrical design with minimal points of contact to reduce pressure on the foot. This feature works in tandem with the brand’s Active Fit. The instep’s lower volume is partnered with a wider footprint to create a more comfortable ground contact.
Providing the Garmont Ushuaya GTX with traction is its Vibram IceTrek outsole. Its profile is filled with multi-directional lugs which render grip on snow and ice. The outsole is made of a durable rubber compound to help it withstand cold temperatures. The sole’s front section extends towards the toes to grant extra protection from stubbing.
The Ushuaya GTX’s midsole is made of a bi-density EVA foam to strike a balance between lightweight cushioning and responsiveness. It’s augmented by a thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) component which supports and stabilizes the heel.
This Garmont winter hiking boot uses a Thermal Comfort footbed to boost arch support and underfoot comfort. It contains 200g of PrimaLoft to warm the user’s foot and keep the cold out.
The Garmont Ushuaya GTX features an upper made of PU and fabric. These materials imbue the boot with sturdiness and lightness. A Gore-Tex Insulated Comfort liner is embedded within the upper to seal water out while keeping the gear breathable. This membrane also grants a boost in insulation.
The boot’s closure system employs a series of eyelets, hooks and a lace. This system is connected to straps that secure the fit of the heel when adjusted. The upper’s forefoot area is reinforced with a PU cap to enhance durability and protection. Its padded tongue and collar help promote comfort.
