Garmont G-Radikal GTX: Notable features
- The G-Radikal GTX by Garmont is a mountaineering boot that boasts of innovative construction solutions. First off, it features an ergonomic last that gives the wearer a comfortable fit.
- This boot is also powered by Vibram outsole for improved grip and traction, as well as Gore-Tex Performance Comfort for superior protection against rain and water. All these qualities make the boot ideal for mountain guides and fast climbers.
Keeps the foot in place
The G-Radikal GTX integrates a revolutionary fastening system, called the G-Wrap. It’s a propriety material sandwiched between the upper and inner lining designed to provide a comfortable fit by wrapping the foot like a second skin.
It also comes with a double lacing system that lets you adjust the fit in the cuff differently from the foot and tighten or loosen the G-wrap depending on your activity needs.
The G-Radikal GTX: Durable traction
Vibram creates different outsoles for different types of footwear. For this specific boot, they used the Apex outsole designed to promote stability and grip on various terrain. The sole features a broad shape in the forefoot and heel areas, which make it suitable for both dry and wet conditions.
And like other Vibram soles, the Apex is highly slip-resistant and long-wearing.
Every stride is steady and protected
A Garmont-exclusive ergonomic last is used for constructing the shoe along with the Double Damper technology. It’s a two-part system in the midsole designed for enhanced cushioning and shock absorption.
It basically consists of the midsole and an internal shock absorber. The midsole “dampens” ground impact while the inner layer helps reduce movement of the foot within the shoe for comfort and stability. All these help lessen fatigue.
The Garmont G-Radikal GTX is ready to conquer unfriendly conditions
The upper of this boot is made of Lenzi Putek fabric which has some great qualities, such as high abrasion resistance, ruggedness, flexibility, and lightness. To protect against water intrusion, the insides of the boot are reinforced with Gore-tex waterproof membrane.
There is removable padding called “G-Liner” that creates a space between the foot and the liner, helping increase airflow and reduce condensation within the boot. The boot also comes with an extra footbed so you can wear it without the G-liner.
Furthermore, the Garmont G-Radikal GTX comes with a heel lock system that helps keep the heel in the heel pocket, thus, preventing possible slips and blisters.
Completing the upper is a double lacing technique that lets you adjust the fit wherever needed.
