Video reviews and unboxing

Be as light as air on the court when wearing the Power Cushion Aerus 3. At only 270 grams, this release is one of Yonex’s lightest badminton shoe yet. It is crafted using a specially engineered top that mimics the properties of mesh, promoting mobility and breathability. The cushioning unit is made of layers that provide comfort, protection against shock, and stability. As for the outsole, it is grippy on indoor surfaces, preventing slips and slides.

Another model to consider if you are a fan of barely-there trainers is the Asics Gel Blade 7. The mesh top adds an element of aeration. A lightweight type of EVA foam is present in the midsole. Comfort is enhanced by the Gel accent at the heel. The outsole is made of durable, non-marking rubber.

Traction. Lunge, side-step, sprint, step backward - do all these movements without fear of slipping thanks to the rubber outsole of the Power Cushion Aerus 3. It features the Hexagrip tread pattern that expands in multiple directions to support agile footwork.

Agility. The segmented layout of the underside promotes flexibility. As for the Round Sole construction of this Yonex badminton shoe, the beveled edges of the outsole allow users to push off the ground using the inner side of their foot. This facilitates faster transitions so players won’t miss a shot.

Shock absorption. The Power Cushion Aerus 3 employs the Power Cushion+. Yonex’s proprietary foam has been updated using a special elastic resin to deliver a 28% increase in shock attenuation and a 62% improvement in repulsion. That translates to athletes feeling more bounce with each step so they don’t quickly tire and they can move swiftly from one position to the next.

Another midsole component is the Hyper msLite. It weighs 10% less than Yonex’s high-performance midsole, but the comfort it provides is comparable.

Stability. Because of the segmented outsole, the arch area is left in a vulnerable position. To strengthen it, there is a 3D Power Carbon embedded in the midsole. This lightweight graphite plate provides sturdiness under the arch to prevent twisting and avoid injuries.

Stance. Inside this badminton footwear is the Yonex Synchro-Fit Insole. This removable insert follows the natural contours of the foot. It decreases the space between the foot and the shoe for a better fit. The heel is slightly elevated to reduce tension in the Achilles tendon and to position the foot to be always ready for the next move.

Foothold. Durable Skin Light makes up the top of the Yonex Power Cushion Aerus 3. This material is engineered using polyurethane (PU), combining the properties of rubber and hard plastic to deliver the perfect combination of flexibility and stiffness.

Comfort. The tongue of this badminton shoe is wrapped in Double Russel Mesh. This fabric withstands abrasion from constant lace adjustments and has an open-cell construction which helps ventilate the interior of the trainer.

Fit. The upper is constructed with the Toe Assist Shape, which decreases the pressure on the big toe while also keeping the fit at the middle and the hindfoot quite snug. The cushioned tongue and collar also contributes to the comfortable fit. To alleviate or increase tightness at the midfoot, the lacing system can be used.
