If being nimble on your feet is what you want in your pair of volleyball shoes, then the Salming Kobra 2 may be the perfect fit. It is constructed using lightweight materials, allowing for quick footwork. The cushioning in this trainer has a high rebound, which makes jumps more energetic. But the highlight of this trainer is the stabilizing features deeply ingrained into the shoe.
Traction. This pair of Salming volleyball shoes utilizes a rubber outsole. The area under the forefoot sports the HexaGrip tread pattern. The geometric shapes in this area provide multi-directional traction on indoor floors.
Steadiness. The Kobra 2 uses the TGS 62/75 feature wherein 62% of the outsole, from the heel to the ball, is designed with stabilization at its core. The flat part stops at a groove positioned in a 75-degree angle just under the ball. It provides flexibility to the forefoot for a more natural toe-off action.
A rubber of different color is placed on the lateral side of the outsole. It is the LMS+ or Lateral Movement Stabilizer Plus which positions the foot at a positive angle of 8 degrees. This component prevents the foot from rolling outwards during side-to-side movements. On the medial side of the outsole, the rubber wraps up to create the RollBar. This feature aids the shoe in turning inwards so the wearer can push off using the inside part of the foot.
Cushioning. The Kobra 2 is equipped with the Recoil midsole. This compound is developed by Salming to be a lightweight cushioning with a high rebound property. At the heel, two layers amplify shock attenuation: the Recoil Reduction or Recoil R and the SoftFOAM. The Recoil R aims to increase comfort during lunges, while the SoftFOAM offers 70% more shock absorption compared to the traditional EVA foam. Both components are designed to be lightweight.
Stability. Under the arc is the Lateral Movement Stabilizer or LMS. This dual torsion unit is designed to be lightweight but still able to prevent excessive twisting during fast and irregular movements.
Comfort. The upper is crafted of several layers of mesh that have been fused to deliver a smooth in-shoe experience, as there are no seams to irritate the skin. The fabrics used are breathable, allowing air to freshen up the foot chamber.
Foothold. Keeping the heel secured is the combination of the plush tongue and collar, and the Ergo Heel Cup. This component is designed to be longer than the average heel cup to provide a better fit and prevent heel slippage.
Lockdown. Fit customization is managed by the lacing system which integrates with the ExoSkeleton. This structure is made of thin overlays that enhance the snugness of the upper, especially when the laces are tightened.
