The Nike SB Koston Hypervulc is a lace-up sneaker with a low-profile build. This low-top construction allows plenty of room for fast maneuvers. An elastic gusset on the tongue locks down the midfoot securely.
The Hyperfeel insole’s arch support is flexible and not rigid, giving support while being comfortable at the same time.
Nike’s SB Koston Hypervulc shoe has a classic and simple style that will go with most outfits in your wardrobe. One can pair it with cargo pants or tracksuit bottoms and a simple tee when skating or with jeans and a sharp polo shirt for leisure wear.
The SB Koston Hypervulc features the Hyperfeel technology, which is a combination of sensitive cushioning, locked-down fit, and a responsive, flexible outsole for a truly efficient ride and skate session. It also utilizes a Vulc sole to give the wearer a superior board feel.
Skateboarding has been around for a long time although it has only been in recent years that it was considered a legitimate sport. The skateboarding market was mostly left untapped by large shoe companies until the early 2000s when they started taking notice of the sport. Nike was one of those who saw the potential growth in the skateboarding industry and in 2002, launched the SB line.
Nike’s SB line initially launched only four iterations of the SB Dunk Lows, but their collection has grown over the years to include more than ten silhouettes and dozens upon dozens of colorways. They also collaborated with professional skateboarders to design new models. One such skateboarder is Eric Koston, a well-known American pro who has worked with Nike since 2009.
Eric first did a reimagined SB Dunk, followed by the Zoom FP a year later, in 2010, before launching his own signature shoe, the Koston 1. Several more signature shoes followed until the release of the SB Koston Hypervulc in 2016.
The Koston Hypervulc features a vulcanized outsole and an upper made of one piece. An elastic gusset is placed on the shoe’s tongue to lock down the midfoot, and a molded sockliner gives the shoe additional support.
- The shoe has a herringbone tread pattern.
- The SB Koston Hypervulc features a lightly-padded mesh tongue.
- This shoe’s collar is slightly more padded than the Koston 3.
