Delivering a sock-like fit as in previous Nike Presto shoes, the latest hybrid kick from the Swoosh brand has a nice fit. The Nike React Presto has a redesigned TPU cage that also secures the shoelaces.
While there were previously five eyelets in the Nike Air Presto, the Nike React Presto only has three eyelets from the new TPU cage design that was styled with the Nike React styling as inspiration. In spite of the new look of the TPU cage, its function in giving structure and support has not been affected while the three eyelets holding the thick rope shoelaces together also effectively keep the feet in place.
In youthful designs and bright colorways that are perfect for the summer months, the Nike Presto React was welcomed positively by the sneaker community. As one of the summer of 2019’s most anticipated lifestyle sneaker releases from the Beaverton-based company, it was offered in vibrant colorways as it melded Presto and React shoes styling into one unique shoe.
As it is initially marketed as a summer shoe, Nike React Presto for men or women are best paired with equally vibrant clothing like shirts and tank tops while shorts, jeans, and joggers are often used as bottoms for these kicks for both men and women. Common colors at play with the Nike React Presto include olive green, honey, white/habanero red/obsidian/pacific blue, wolf grey/black/rush pink/volt tones that are perfect for sunny days of summer.
Throwback to original Presto characters
Combining design aspects of the Nike Air Presto and Nike React shoes, the most prominent style is reflected in its use of original illustrated characters that were used when the Presto silhouette was launched in 2000. Colorways for the initial drop include the “Brutal Honey” with its bee-inspired insole character in yellow and dark brown tones and the “Rabid Panda” with its sharp-toothed panda character at the insole in navy orange hues.
Other designs were also dropped like the Lava Lamp and White Ghost in succeeding installations. A customized version through Nike By You design can also be purchased featuring more characters and illustrations such as the Unholy Cumulus, Rogue Kielbasa, and Shady Milkman. A few weeks later more colorways were dropped to include Chatty Matador, Psychedelic Lava, Breezy Thursday, and Witness Protection.
A new lifestyle kick from the Swoosh label, the Nike React Presto shoes is a hybrid design with features that combined the best features of Nike Presto and Nike React models into one sleek silhouette. It features a sock-like cleatie construction with a redesigned exterior heel cage with a more anatomical shape and looks with synthetic suede overlays at the tongue and back as color accents.
The React foam midsole has the same deep grooves such as the Nike Epic React Flyknit sneakers while an ample amount of rubber was placed on the exaggerated heel that is reminiscent of the iconic Air Presto. The upper is also composed of a breathable mesh and neoprene material with perforations concentrated at the forefoot to deliver the same foot-hugging experience with more ventilation.
As one of the most iconic running shoe models released from the 2000s, the Nike Presto was a product of years of research for a comfortable fit. The shoe was introduced just in time for the 2000 Sydney Olympics as a lightweight running shoe with a barefoot feel. The shoe is the brainchild of Nike’s creative talents like Tobie Hatfield, Kevin Hoffer, and Tobie Hatfield.
The bestselling shoe was also dubbed as a “T-shirt for the Feet” because its initial sizing went from XXS to XXXLjust like in shirts that are far different from the usual numeric measurements. Since then, the design has been a constant staple in the Nike retail portfolio coming in various colorways and designs as a result of constant innovation as well as collaboration with brands and designers.
To better improve the silhouette, Nike introduced its best cushioning technology to date Nike React into one of its most beloved shoe models. The result of this concept is the hybrid Nike React Presto sneakers which was dropped in designs inspired by its original illustrated characters starting with Brutal Honey and Rabid Panda theme colorways just in time for summer in May 2019.
- The Nike React Presto shoes have removable insoles with printed characters depending on the theme.
- Japanese label BEAMS came out with a collaboration design for the innovative Nike React Presto colorway called “Dharma” to celebrate their 40th anniversary. The design takes inspiration from the Daruma dolls which have been culturally iconic for the brand.
