Asics designed the Snapdown to cater to the needs of beginners and pro wrestlers. Its lightweight built helps users be quick on their feet. Its grippy underside allows wearers to push off and get the upper hand or stand their ground to prevent being taken down by their opponent. The upper is crafted to be breathable for all-day comfort with overlays that enhance the foothold.
This model has an updated version, the Asics Snapdown 2. It uses the same silhouette and sole technology. The most noticeable difference is that Snapdown 2’s overlays have been arranged to deliver more ankle hold.
Traction. The Snapdown from Asics employs a full-length rubber sole. This compound is crafted to be grippy on smooth surfaces. The concentric tread patterns on the perimeter of the unit help with multi-directional adherence. The rubber wraps up in some areas to help wearers push-off even when their foot is positioned on its side.
Cushioning. The outsole also serves as the cushioning element. Its soft nature decreases the shock felt by the foot and the lower extremities.
Comfort. The upper of the Snapdown utilizes mesh and synthetic materials. The mesh fabric is soft, which allows the foot to expand naturally. It is also breathable which keeps the interior fresh.
Lockdown. Suede overlays are used to protect high-wear areas like the bottom part of the top, which comes in contact with the mat. They also form a saddle that integrates with the lacing system. The hindfoot and side-to-side support are enhanced when the laces are cinched. Atop the tongue is a Lace Garage. This little pocket stores the shoelaces, so they don’t get in the way or get untied during matches.
