The Gel Upcourt is a budget-friendly pair of volleyball shoes that caters to beginners and professionals alike. It uses light materials that won’t hinder the agility of the athletes. Its breathable upper aerates the interior so wearers won’t have to be bothered with sweaty feet. The trainer is built to support quick movements because of its grippy outsole while the cushioning serves to decrease the shock felt by the foot.
Succeeding iterations of the Upcourt no longer employ the Gel Cushioning technology. Despite the construction reinvention, the impact reduction has stayed the same. One model to consider is the Asics Upcourt 3. It uses the same silhouette and technologies as the original version except for the Gel component.
Traction. A rubber outsole makes up the bottom of the Gel Upcourt. This compound is soft and sticky, which helps it grip smooth surfaces. A disc is placed under the ball of the foot to help the wearers pivot without injuring their knees. The outsole wraps up the front, creating a guard that not only protects the toes against bumps but also allows players to push off the court. The rubber is non-marking, so you won’t have to worry about ugly streaks on polished floors.
Cushioning. For impact absorption, the Gel Upcourt employs a full-length foam midsole. Amplifying the underfoot protection is the padded footbed, which also prevents in-shoe slippage. At the forefoot, it features the brand’s proprietary Gel Cushioning system. This component has a colloidal substance inside it that shifts with the movement of the foot to reduce impact or pressure where it is needed.
Breathability. A synthetic mesh forms the top section of the Asics Gel Upcourt. This fabric allows air to cool the foot chamber so the player can keep going. The walls of the inside are covered in a soft mesh that provides a comfortable in-shoe feeling and also helps ventilate the interior.
Support. Synthetic overlays wrap some sections of the upper to provide support. At the forefoot, they serve to guard against painful bumps. The human-made component also covers the heel and the sides of the midfoot to keep the foot supported, especially during lateral movements. It also protects the underlying material against premature tearing.
Lockdown. Securing the foot inside the footgear is a traditional lacing system. The synthetic lateral and medial panels integrate with the eyelets. When the laces are cinched, support during side-to-side movement is enhanced.
Fit. The Gel Upcourt features a padded collar along with a plush tongue. These elements contribute to the snug fit of the top which also helps with the secure foothold.
