As the name suggests, the Aggressor 4 is designed to be audacious. Aside from its bold style, the tread pattern on this pair of Asics wrestling shoes is designed to deliver maximum traction on the mat. The upper is made of ultrasuede which has been constructed to be tough and withstand abrasions. A thin layer of cushioning is used inside the trainer to provide underfoot comfort to the wearer.
What sets this iteration apart from the previous one is the style of the ankle structure. The Aggressor 4 has a cuff-like design that reinforces the support.
If you like bold styles for your wrestling shoes, check out the Adidas Flying Impact. Aside from the striking colors it is offered in, the upper is structured to offer maximum foothold. The outsole also features an aggressive tread pattern that ensures surefootedness.
Traction. Underneath the Asics Aggressor 4 is the DuoSole unit. This technology employs rubber pods riddles throughout the bottom and mimics the look of tire tracks. The layout of the outsole aims to deliver exceptional grip on the mat. This layer is also flexible to keep the user agile. The outsole wraps up the bottom portion of the upper so that the foot can push off the mat using its sides. At the heel, the height of the rubber layer is exaggerated to help steady the heel during matches.
Comfort. Inside the Aggressor 4 is the ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) foam. This thin layer attenuates shock to keep the underfoot comfortable during matches. It is molded to provide maximum coverage that would prevent in-shoe slippage. It does not hinder the outsole’s flexibility.
Support. The Asics Aggressor 4 employs an almost one-piece Ecsaine upper. This material has been created to mimic the properties of suede but is more durable. Its soft nature delivers a form-fitting experience. Its high-top silhouette helps secure the ankle and keep it supported during bouts.
Movement. At the front, suede is used as a toe cap. Not only does it protect against painful bumps, but it also allows the wearer to slide the foot if needed. This component can be handy when getting out of a tricky position.
Breathability. Ecsaine, like regular suede, is not breathable. But the Aggressor 4 features a tongue wrapped in a single layer of mesh to help with the ventilation. The interior is also lined with a breathable fabric. There are also perforations on the ankle area for aeration.
Lockdown. The vamp-to-leg lacing system keeps the foot securely inside the trainer. Users can customize the fit and ankle hold by adjusting the tightness of the laces.
The footwear also features a no-scratch lace garage on the tongue. This integrated pocket prevents the shoestrings from getting untied during a match.
- The Aggressor 4 takes inspiration from the Asics Rulon. This pair of wrestling shoes got its namesake from Rulon Gardner, the Greco Roman Olympic Gold Medalist and heavyweight.
- The Asics vector is placed on the lateral side of the footwear. The name and logo of the company appear on the lace garage. The ‘a’ logo is also seen in the middle of the outsole.
- To clean this model, a dry brush would be enough to remove dust. But if there are stains, don’t be afraid to use a damp cloth or a brush dipped in a warm soapy solution to get rid of them. Ecsaine is more durable than suede, so its fibers won’t get destroyed if it becomes wet.
