Who should buy the Five Ten Hellcat
Regardless if you’re a casual trail rider or an enduro enthusiast, this MTB shoe is engineered to support activities on and off the bike. It is a solid option if you:
- Need a shoe that ensures a snug fit and prevents power loss.
- Need a shoe that has a tough fabrics so it won’t easily get scratched.
- Need a shoe that is constructed to be stiff to support pedaling even on the trickiest of trails.
Stealth C4 rubber
The bottom of the Hellcat is lined with the Stealth C4 rubber. This compound does not quickly wear out. It is naturally grippy, but the use of the Dotty tread pattern increases its traction on various surfaces.
Inside the sole unit is a dual-density shank. It decreases the vibrations or impact felt by the foot. It also stiffens the cleat area for pedaling but still offers flexibility for a smooth heel-to-toe transition while walking.
2-hole cleats system
The Five Ten Hellcat works with clipless pedals. It is fitted with 2-hole cleats that are compatible with the following pedals: Crankbothers Mallet 3, Funn Ripper, Shimano XT M8020 Trail, DMR V-Twin, Nukeproof Horizon CS, to name some.
DWR-treated leather
The Hellcat employs DWR-treated leather and synthetic components. The materials prevent water from seeping inside the shoe, keeping the interior dry. They are also able to withstand abrasive elements on the trails.
Excellent ventilation
The top has micro-perforations to help with ventilation. However, the pores are so tiny that it won’t take away from the water-resistant property of the upper.
The shoe uses an ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) foam for the tongue that is covered in mesh. It prevents discomfort on the instep caused by tight lacing. It also adds to the overall breathability of the trainer.
Secure fit
A traditional lacing system adorns the midfoot on this pair of Five Ten cycling shoes. It has a single Velcro strap on top, amplifying heel security for improved power transfer. The strap can also be used to tuck the laces.
