The Under Armour Charged Core was crafted for indoor cross-training. Its sole lies low which keeps the foot stable during squats, lifts, and lateral movements. It is also flexible enough for plyometrics and short runs but does not provide adequate support for long-distance runs.
The cushioning unit and the upper construction of the Charged Core make it very similar to another acclaimed workout trainer, the Under Armour Commit.
Strategically placed on the heel and forefoot area of the Under Armour Charged Core is a rubber material that adds traction. It is durable, resistant to oil and grease, and does not get deformed easily.
Flex grooves span the entire sole unit. They add flexibility to support plyometrics and other multi-directional movements.
This Under Armour workout shoe has two layers of responsive foams. Making up a majority of the midsole is the Micro G, a soft foam that serves to absorb impact. The force of impact spreads throughout the midsole which lessens the stress on the foot, knee, and ankle.
The Charged Cushioning spans from the midfoot to the forefoot and has less impact absorption properties. It is more responsive compared to Micro G to make it easier to transition from one movement to another.
A full-length Charged Cushioning sock liner sits atop these dual layers. It adds comfort and makes the shoe fit better for the user.
An abrasion-resistant material makes up the upper of the Under Armour Charged Core. It withstands the normal wear and tear associated with high-intensity workouts.
The molded toe cap protects the forefoot from the impact. The synthetic overlays on the midfoot are designed to add durability and stability.
It features a traditional lacing system with flat laces that pass through a slot on the thin tongue to keep it from sliding to the sides. The collar is lightly padded to help keep the foot supported and locked down.
The external thermoplastic polyurethane heel counter serves to keep the back of the foot locked in place. TPU is a type of plastic that is usually transparent, elastic and resistant to oil or grease. It is rigid, but lightweight.
