Having this shoe on provides you with cushion but it's not overwhelming.
- The Nike Tech Trainer is designed with soccer and soccer players in mind. These athletes undergo rigorous training that combines a lot of physical activities such as cardio, weight training, plyometrics and more.
- The footwear is created with a virtually flat heel that provides stability and keeps the foot planted. The outsole uses gum rubber which is grippy on various types of surfaces. As for the midsole, the full-length foam absorbs shock and keeps the foot steady during explosive moves.
- The upper is made of neoprene which wraps the foot to keep it locked down. Suede overlays protect the high wear areas of the trainer such as the toe box and the heel. Wide webbed eyelets are used in the lacing system to provide lateral support at the midfoot section.
The Nike Tech Trainer is designed to accommodate the shape and dynamics of men’s feet. It is available in US sizes 6 to 15 and comes only in a D - Medium width profile. Consumers who are uncertain of their shoe size can click on the Size Guide link on the product page on the brand site. It opens a new tab that offers a tutorial on how to properly measure one’s feet to acquire an accurate shoe size.
The Nike Tech Trainer employs a gum rubber outsole. This compound is hard-wearing to endure training in various indoor and outdoor surfaces. It features hexagonal lugs that promote multi-directional traction. It also features flex grooves at the forefoot area which promote natural foot flexion. As for the heel, it is crafted to be virtually flat to provide stability during squats and weight training.
The rubber extends to the front of the shoes, creating a bumper that protects the toes during burpees and sled pushes. The material also wraps up the lateral and the medial sides of the midfoot to deliver support for side-to-side movements. It has nubs, allowing it to grip the rope during rope climbs.
A full-length foam makes up the midsole of the Nike Tech Trainer. This cushioning platform attenuates shock to keep the foot protected and comfortable. It also offers a steady base deeded for strenuous exercises.
The Nike Tech Trainer utilizes neoprene and suede materials for its upper. Neoprene makes up a majority of the façade, giving it a sock-like fit. It keeps the foot supported, but also allows it to expand throughout the day. Suede overlays reinforce the high-wear areas such as the perimeter of the toe box and the heel. Aside from protecting the underlying neoprene, they also provide lateral support at the forefoot and cup the rearfoot to keep it steady during dynamic movements.
The lace-up closure uses wide webbed eyelets. They wrap the medial and lateral sides of the upper, so when the laces are cinched, the components are drawn closer to the foot thereby amplifying support for side-to-side movements.
The footgear sports a cleatie design with a high apex that keeps the instep protected. The collar is lightly padded to keep the heel locked down and prevent accidental shoe removal. A pull loop is attached to the back of the collar. Wearers could utilize it to pull up the shoe quickly.
The latest iteration of the Nike Tech Trainer comes from the collaboration with Russell Wilson, the quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks. The Tech Trainer Russell Wilson features a black and cool grey colorway. Metallic gold is used for the graphic accent on the rear section, the Swoosh logo on the outsole, and the Nike brand on the lateral strap. The RW logo is also printed in gold and found on the tongue and the insole.
Another version of this footwear is the Nike Tech Trainer AMP. This update features the dark obsidian and black colorway. When light hits parts of the footwear with the dark obsidian element, it appears metallic, giving it a whole new, pumped up vibe.
