-Dubbed by Arc’teryx as their lightest approach piece yet, the Konseal LT is capable of addressing a variety of approach-specific challenges with as much mobility as possible. It is designed to provide users with sufficient support, even while they are carrying a loaded pack.
-Its heavy-duty sole unit, whose Vibram outsole is at the forefront, is as cushy as it is protective. This unified component delivers additional level-ground walking comfort, thanks in large part to its moderately rockered toe section.
-The Konseal LT has a collapsible heel. When folded in, the shoe becomes a slip-on, offering added comfort during idle times or while the wearer is belaying.
The Konseal LT from Arc’teryx is a low-cut shoe built specifically for male and female approach travelers. Its gusseted tongue prevents bunching around the instep. A personalized and secure fit in it is courtesy of the shoe’s lace-to-toe closure.
The Arc’teryx Konseal LT is in the business of granting wearers enough surface traction with its Vibram Megagrip outsole. The rubber compound powering it (a.k.a. Megagrip) promises sustained tenacity on a variety of backcountry surfaces, be they wet or dry. The circular lugs scattered around it provide adequate friction in practically every direction.
Its ability to give users sufficient braking power during descents is courtesy of its square edge heel. On the other hand, its smooth forefoot tip—widely known as climbing zone—delivers extra grip on smears.
On the cushioning front, hikers have the Konseal LT’s stabilizing midsole to thank. This firm yet springy layer is made of ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA). A midsole made of this particular material is known for being adequately effective at mitigating shock on impact.
Arc’teryx shoemakers topped it with a 3D-molded insert called Dynamic Foam for extra comfort underfoot. It owes its plushness mainly from its 4.5-mm thick construction. This removable component also provides additional support around the arch.
The breathable low-top shell of the Konseal LT is synthetic, with its vulnerable high-contact sections reinforced with overlays for abrasion protection. Its heel and gusseted tongue have a sturdy pull loop to make on and off a relatively easy affair.
Arc’teryx engineers gave it protective sidewalls for lateral protection and a 3D-molded toe cap for added grip where toeing maneuvers are required. They also furnished its heel with a long-wearing overlay for more rearfoot support.
The Konseal LT’s resilient upper is made complete with its lace-to-toe fit management system. It consists of slits for eyelets and a flat lace. It comes with an extra pair of eyelets around the ankle cuff, allowing users to have a different fit configuration when used.
