Updates to Ecco Xpedition III Low

  • The Ecco Xpedition III Low is a waterprood shoe equipped for both trail outings and urban escapades. Compared with its predecessor, this version has a more streamlined look—a quality attributable to its sleek upper whether made of oiled leather seen in the men’s gear or a combination of synthetic textile, mesh, and leather in the women’s shoe.
  • Quite the noticeable change in this iteration, specifically in the men’s pair, is found in the footgear’s lacing system. It has a more classic-looking front closure this time around. Note that the women’s shoe pretty much still sports the previous version’s lacing design. The hiker’s ankle pockets are also deeper than the Xpedition II Low’s.
  • Seeing a return in this edition is the Receptor technology. Just like in the previous model, this Ecco-exclusive technology improves mobility without sacrificing stability.

Ecco Xpedition III Low size and fit

Ecco’s Xpedition III Low is a relatively true-to-size, low-cut day hiking gear for men and women. It comes in standard width and whole EU sizes (one size covers half and whole US sizes). Its lace-up closure provides lockdown security and a personalized fit.

Outsole

The Xpedition III Low’s slip-prevention capability comes exclusively from its rubber outsole. Aggressively designed lugs populate it to give users added grip on tricky backcountry surfaces. It has dual-axis flex channels (courtesy of the Receptor technology) which provides hikers with more flexibility and power, especially during toe offs.

Midsole

With the Ecco Xpedition III Low’s direct-injected polyurethane midsole, adventurers get to experience the trail with sufficient cushioning, shock protection, and terrain balance. A cushioned footbed sits right on top of it, offering additional underfoot comfort.

Upper

This hiking shoe walls off the foot from the direct punches of the elements with its below-the-ankle upper made of oiled nubuck leather for men and mesh, leather, and synthetic materials for women. The women's shoe is structured with vent panels that deliver breathability. The Gore-Tex membrane engineered within its liner grants hikers warmth on the inside and waterproofing on the outside. There is a pull tab on its heel for ease of access.

The Xpedition III Low’s combination eyelets are made up of plated lace holes and open hooks in the men’s version. In the women’s pair, on the other hand, they are composed of fabric loops and standard eyelets.
