Ecco Exostrike Mid notable features

-The Exostrike Mid is made with Dyneema leather which is said to be stronger than steel but is unbelievably thin, lightweight, and tear-resistant.

-For its cushioning system, it uses the Phorene midsole that has admirable shock-absorbing qualities.

-This hybrid boot also features a unique PROSOMA heel cup that offers protection and support while giving the foot a snug fit.

Size and fit

The Exostrike boot is a mid-top hiker constructed using the FLUIDFORM technology - a direct injection process that involves the use of specialized anatomical lasts for a precise fit. The unique heel cup lets the wearer achieve a snug fit while the traditional lace-up closure makes it easy to adjust the tightness of the shoe.

Outsole

Meant to bite into most types of terrain, this boot from Ecco features a rubber outsole with an aggressive pattern for better traction. There's ample space between the lugs so no debris (stones, soil, or mud) gets stuck. The outsole grips fairly well on loose or packed soil, rocks, grass, and other on-trail surfaces.

Midsole

Another unique element of this boot is the Phorene midsole which incredibly trims its weight. It's made of a durable synthetic material called "polyurethane" which is also used in many Ecco performance footwear products. Unlike traditional PU midsoles, this patented technology is touted for its durability, ultra lightness, and shock-absorbing quality.

The midsole ensures a comfortable and supportive base for the foot, helping the wearer endure long hours of walk.

Upper

The most unique part of the Exostrike hiker is its Dyneema bonded leather upper. Ecco is the first brand to use this revolutionary material in a hiking boot. It has a lot of great qualities, such as lightness, resilience, and tear resistance. According to the company, this special type of leather can withstand heavy use and abuse and offers protection against ripping or poking. What's more, it's "paper-thin" which makes the boot really comfortable.

Completing the upper is a lace-up closure with D-ring eyelets. The heel cup wraps the foot for snug comfort, support, and protection.

Nice to know

-Shortly after its release in 2018, the Ecco Exostrike has won a Gold Award from the International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics (ISPO). That's not just because of the Dyneema upper but also the proprietary midsole and hard-sided heel cup. -The brand has also announced that the future builds will feature a waterproof Goretex model.
