Use - The Saucony Showdown is best used in sprinting meets and short-distance races. These running events can range from 100 meters all the way up to 400 meters.
Spike Type - Following the standard spike requirement, the track shoe features pyramid pins. These are intended for ultra-light, versatile grip on the track surface. These measure ¼ inch in length and dig into the ground with each of the runner’s stride.
Spike Plate - Similar to most track and field spikes, a Pebax® plate is equipped to the outsole. It exhibits a good balance of both flexibility and rigidity, powering propulsion. It also has a ten-spike layout, intended for multi-surface traction.
The design principle of the Saucony Showdown is to keep weight down and maximize security and grip. That is why it features Saucony’s renowned ISOFIT system. It integrates the mesh upper, Flex Film overlays, and lacing system of the running spike for featherlight support and lockdown.
Intended to optimize flexibility and durability, a Pebax® plate is furnished to the outsole. Just like the ISOFIT system, it keeps weight at an absolute minimum. It also keeps a low profile, allowing more ground control.
The Saucony Showdown is designed using the standard width for both men and women. Thus, users can get a pair with their usual size preference.
The fit of the track running spike is supplied by the ISOFIT system, permitting ultra-light and breathable wrap. The mesh material of the fit system wraps around the contours of the foot for maximum security. The classic lace-up fastening system, meanwhile, promotes a customizable fit. Lastly, the Flex Film overlays increase the support of the running platform.
As mentioned, the outsole of the Saucony Showdown is graced with the Pebax® plate. It has a good rigidity-to-weight ratio, integral for heightening the propulsion of the contender. Moreover, it keeps a sufficient amount of flexibility for unrestricted foot movements and comfort. Its makeup also promotes shock attenuation. The same outsole element is present in the Nike Zoom JA Fly 3.
To keep the weight of the track running spike at an absolute minimum, it does not have any midsole component.
Flaunting Saucony’s ISOFIT system, Showdown offers featherlight support and security. The fit system integrates the mesh upper, lace-up closure, and Flex Film overlays.
The mesh upper provides optimal breathability and security while keeping the weight down. It gives the foot a sock-like wrap with its flexibility.
Complementing the mesh upper are the Flex Film overlays and the traditional lace-up closure. The Flex Film overlays are made of thin films that feature a no-sew integration into the upper. This gives an irritation-free fit. The lace-up fastening system, meanwhile, provides the runner with a dialed-in, accurate wrap.
