The Saucony Grid Omni Walker was designed to serve as a stability walking shoe for people with moderate overpronation. It hosts a number of features that are aimed at delivering ample cushioning, arch support, and gait control.
The Saucony Grid Omni Walker makes use of the proprietary XT-900 material on the outsole unit. It is a carbon rubber compound which covers the unit, ensuring traction and lasting protection. It is also non-marking and doesn’t leave any scuffs or marks on the floors.
The Walk Trac lines extend from the midfoot to the forefoot section of the outsole. This design helps the foot go through the walking gait cycle more smoothly.
The flex grooves are also present in the forefoot area. They make sure that the flexibility of the foot is not hindered.
The midsole unit of this walking shoe offers a multitude of technologies, designed to deliver a cushioned and stable walking session.
The hallmark feature of the shoe is the GRID cassette. Inherited from the Saucony’s running shoes, it is comprised of Hytrel thermoplastic elastomer filaments, which are interwoven to form an actual grid. It is embedded into the foam in the heel section of the shoe. When this construction bends upon the heel strike, it centers the impact in one area, giving the wearer better control of their movement.
The cushioning is ensured by a combination of the HRC and the SRC components. The HRC system is placed in the full length of the shoe. It is made of a fusion of the EVA and rubber to deliver responsive cushioning and shock absorption. This compound is thicker in the forefoot to provide a smooth toe-off.
The SRC impact zone complements the GRID in the heel section. Made of an upgraded foam material, it is claimed to provide 15% more resilience than the standard EVA foam. It is meant to add cushioning during the heel strike.
The shoe also features an asymmetrical sole design. It is engineered to promote the natural biomechanics of the foot.
A removable sockliner is added for extra arch support and cushioning. Owners have the option to remove or replace it with custom orthotics.
The Saucony Grid Omni Walker employs full-grain leather for its upper unit. This material is supposed to give a structured yet plush coverage for the foot. It features additional leather overlays for enhanced support and durability in the key areas.
A conventional lace-up closure is used for an adjustable fit. A padded tongue protects the instep from the pressure of the laces.
The collar is also padded to keep the rearfoot securely in place throughout the movement. A breathable mesh lines the tongue and the collar to keep the interior ventilated.
