Summary

We spent 9.3 hours reading reviews from experts and users. In summary, this is what basketball players think:

9 reasons to buy

  • These Nike basketball shoes can accommodate the ankle braces of those who need extra support because of some ankle problems.
  • Several wearers say that the Nike Air Precision is suitable for outdoor use due to its solid rubber outsole and dense midsole foam.
  • Like the second Jordan Why Not, the Air Precision has a good grip on clean and dusty courts, says a reviewer.
  • These Nike sneakers’ uppers and midsoles are made of lightweight materials, several users comment.
  • The majority love the look of these mid-top basketball shoes. They say that they are simple, clean, and easy to pair with outfits.
  • The padded upper and tongue make the Nike Air Precision one of the most comfortable sneakers a user has ever had. The padded ankle area also gives much support.
  • A couple of reviewers say that the mesh upper of the shoe provides ample breathability.
  • Some users like the lower cut of the rear portion of the ankle collar because it allows increased mobility.
  • The shoe is easy to wear and take off due to height of the ankle collar, remarks a wearer.

4 reasons not to buy

  • Similar to the 33rd Air Jordan’s cuhsioning, at least one reviewer comments that the midsole cushion feels too firm. It does not feel like he was walking on air at all.
  • A tester complains about getting bad blisters on his big toes.
  • A wearer has issues with the shoe’s traction.
  • Because the tongue doubles as a forefoot piece and is attached to the sides, loosening the laces does not do so much to achieve a less snug and more comfortable fit. What makes matters worse is that many say that the shoe is very narrow.

Bottom line

If you need a casual shoe that can double as a basketball sneaker at a price that is not too hard on the pocket, then the Nike Air Precision is your shoe. Most buyers of the Air Precision are satisfied with their purchase.

Released as a Nike budget model, the Nike Air Precision is nothing flashy, but it is equipped with the basic techs needed for hooping. Herringbone on solid rubber outsole, check! Phylon foam for responsiveness and Air unit at the heel for impact protection, check! A lightweight and breathable mesh upper that provides support, comfort, and lockdown, all check!

Cushion. The Nike Air Precision has the tried and tested encapsulated Air-sole unit at the heel. Basically a polyurethane pouch that is filled with dense gases, the technology ensures durable cushioning that doesn’t bottom out as fast as regular foam. Surrounding the unit is Phylon foam that supports the weight of the player while providing a stable and comfortable base.

Traction. The shoe’s outsole sports a multidirectional herringbone pattern that uniquely comes in two layers. A secondary pattern underneath goes against the grain of the primary one, creating a cross-hatch effect that effectively enhances the sole’s friction. The herringbone pattern appears to center on the pivot circle at the midfoot.

Length and Width. The tongue is stitched to the base and extends up to just above the forefoot. It forms a securely anchored internal shroud, making the forefoot and midfoot feel quite narrow. A couple of reviewers also report that the Nike Air Precision runs small. It is best to fit the shoe on personally in your local shoe shop.

Lockdown. The Nike Air Precision features a traditional lacing setup. The two lace loops right above the midfoot pull the upper material toward the center. This tightens the fit and pushes the foot to the footbed. The forefoot area is further clamped down by the snug layer of mesh on top of it.

The Nike basketball shoes’ upper is made of a breathable mesh material that is backed by a layer of foam. The upper is internally lined with a soft textile. There are fuse overlays in high-wear areas like the toe rand and the space around lace holes for increased durability. The tongue is also thickly padded to reduce any discomfort from tightening the laces.

An encapsulated Air-sole unit is embedded in the heel area of the phylon midsole cushion. The outsole is made of a solid rubber compound.

A mid-top basketball shoe that is clean and sleek, the Nike Air Precision looks good with cropped jeans or shorts. For outfits that require a shoe that isn’t too flashy, this sneaker fits the bill. The Nike Swoosh can be found on the lateral, medial, and bottom side of the shoe. “AIR Precision” is embossed on the tongue while “AIR” is at the back of the heel.

The Nike Air Precision is available in seven colorways:

  • Black/Blue/White
  • Black/White
  • Gold/Black
  • Gray/Black/Aqua
  • Infrared/Deep Blue
  • Light Gray/Navy Blue
  • White/Black
