Designed for everyday wear, the New Balance 813 employs technologies that aim to make walking enjoyable. The most remarkable feature of the shoe is the ROLLBAR compound. It is a posting system found in between the outsole and the midsole and serves to keep the heel portion firmly planted on the ground to prevent wobbling. This technology is inherent to all of New Balance motion control walking shoes.

The New Balance 813 utilizes a full-length rubber outsole. This compound is hard-wearing, flexible, and slip-resistant. The tread pattern on this model enhances the traction capability of the rubber.

The forefoot area has flex grooves that promote foot flexion. At the center, running the length of the outsole is the Walking Strike Path. It acts to center the foot and reduce the imbalance when the weight is shifted from the heel to the forefoot while walking.

The New Balance 813 uses a lightweight foam. It is designed to be durable for long-lasting wear. It also works to reduce the shock felt by the foot and lower extremities.

At the heel section, in between the outsole and the midsole, is the ROLLBAR. It is a TPU post with a composite plate which steadies the back of the shoe, preventing the foot from overpronating or supinating.

A supple leather makes up the upper of the New Balance 813. This material offers support in the right places but is not too rigid to restrict the movement.

The exteriors of both tongue and collar are lined with mesh fabric to facilitate ventilation of the foot chamber. They are also lightly padded to keep the foot comfortable while walking.

The lace-up closure secures the foot inside the shoe. This structure prevents the foot from slipping out and allows users to adjust the fit according to their preferences.
