Just like its first iteration, the 669 v2 is designed for trails. Its overall style and color pallette also make it very similar to a dedicated hiking shoe. However, it should be noted that this walking trainer is meant for moderate use and may not withstand the more demanding expeditions associated with hiking.

Revamped upper. The shoe still uses a combination of suede and mesh materials to make up the upper. However, the v2 version puts them in a different configuration to give a better balance of support and breathability.

Fabric lace loops. Instead of traditional punched eyelets, the NB 669 v2 makes use of stitched fabric stripes on both sides of the upper. They run up and down the shoe’s sidewalls, forming zig-zags. Such construction allows to create a more snug and precise fit for the foot when the laces are cinched.

Heel tab. A fabric loop has been added at the back. The wearer can use it to pull up the shoe a bit quicker.

Solid rubber. The 669 v2 inherits the rubber outsole of its predecessor. Featuring the same material and lug pattern, it promises to provide an equal level of durability and traction.

Extra grip. The shoe also retains the rubber brake lugs in the heel and forefoot areas. They prevent the wearer from slipping.

Durable cushioning. The trainer makes use of the brand’s Abzorb unit to protect the foot and leg from impact. It is instilled with DuPont Engage isoprene rubber to create a responsive ride. It is also considered one of NB’s most durable midsoles. Abzorb is complemented by a polyurethane insole to minimize the shock from repetitive foot landing.

Lasting suede. The New Balance 669 v2 is caged in a suede material in the upper. More lasting than syhnthetics or mesh, it helps to create a durable support at the bottom portion of the shoe.

Aeration through mesh. Meanwhile, the vamp, togue, and collar are lined with mesh. This fabric is more breathable and makes sure that the foot stays properly ventilated. However, the shoe overall is not recommended for use in hot weather.
