For 140, you can get a lot better shoes!
There's nothing really phenomenal about the shoe.
Overall, the Super.Fly 5 is a “sum is better than the parts” shoe as no category stood out as masterful. For the market demands today it just doesn’t hang.
I didn’t hate them, but definitely wasn’t a fan of them. Nothing great about it honestly.
The Super Fly 5 retails at $140, which is very overpriced for such a mediocre shoe.
In my opinion, there's nothing really special about the shoe.
Inspired by Blake Griffin’s high-flying game, the Jordan Super.Fly 5 boasts a 360° lockdown. The shoe has a soft internal heel cup that feels like pillows on the feet. It also has an advanced lacing system attached to it.
Cushion. An oval Zoom Air unit is embedded in the forefoot area of the Phylon midsole. The unit provides low-profile responsiveness that assists the foot during take-off.
Traction. The outsole is made up of quadrilateral patterns that run from the toe to the heel. Taking the shape of a foot, the pattern densifies in pressure points, adding extra grip for the foot.
Length and Width. It is advised for new buyers to go with their regular Jordan basketball shoe size since the Super.Fly 5 runs true to size.
Lockdown. The shoe’s fit is superior as the stiff mesh upper conforms well to the foot after breaking it in. Two of the lace loops near the shoe’s opening are fastened to a cord that is attached to the foam system at the back. When tightened, the lacing system securely straps the foot to the footbed while the Super Fly 5’s podular heel cup prevents backward slips.
The SF5 features stiff mesh with fuse overlays in the forefoot that gradually seams into a soft synthetic material at the heel. A podular heel foam system is implemented in the ankle area, providing a plush backseat for those hardworking trotters.
An ortholite insole is added to ensure that each step is comfortable. The midsole has a Phylon heel cushion and an oval Zoom Air unit at the forefoot. The outsole uses a solid yet pliable rubber.
The Jordan Super.Fly 5 features a classic mid-top basketball shoe silhouette. The combination of stiff mesh and soft synthetics with stitch detailing on the sides brings personality to the sneaker. The Jumpman logo and a “SUPER.FLY” call-out is printed onto the tongue. Two other Jumpman logos are on both sides of the heel.
The SF5 has been released in more than seven colorways ranging from gray, black, red, and blue. Some colorways feature two-color combinations such as the “Green Glow” colorway that comes in black and seafoam green and the Red/Blue colorway that the shoe originally debuted in.
