It's a great quality product from Berghaus.
Not the lowest-priced option but performance is far better than that of the boots with lower price tags, making it great value for regular users.
It’s happy enough on the mountain but if full winter conditions are likely, it’s too flexible and bendy to cope.
- The Explorer Ridge Plus GTX is a two-to-three-season hiking boot and is the successor of the Explorer Ridge GTX. The simplified look of the upper now sports a Pittards full-grain leather with a Gore-Tex laminate for improved trail performance.
- Berghaus designers also updated the midsole to an EVA foam to provide lightweight cushioning. It works with an Ortholite footbed and a TPU Plantar Plate for enhanced comfort and support. Also, it now comes with an Alpha Compound rubber outsole which includes Opti-Stud boots for traction.
The Berghaus Explorer Ridge Plus GTX is a hiking boot for men and women. It is offered in regular sizes and standard width. It reasonably runs true to size. The traditional lace-up closure of this gear allows hikers to adjust the fit.
The Berghaus Explorer Ridge Plus carries the Alpha Compound rubber outsole with the hiking-specific Opti-Stud technology. It has a self-cleaning design to maintain its grip on various terrain conditions. The central lugs yield multidirectional traction while the aggressive boots along the side of the outsole grant stability. The ridged area on the forefoot enhances bite on ascents.
The Explorer Ridge Plus GTX uses an ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) midsole. It renders lightweight cushioning and absorbs shock from ground impacts. It works with a TPU Plantar Plate for underfoot stability and protection. An Ortholite footbed with antimicrobial treatment is added to optimize comfort.
This mid-cut day hiking boot features 1.6 - 1.8 mm Pittards WR100X leather. It is known for its longevity and water resistance, ultimately creating comfort. Enhancing its protection from wet encounters is a breathable Gore-Tex Performance Comfort laminate which also offers a modest amount of insulation.
The rear of the leather hiking boot is connected to the lacing system through the EHS or Enhanced Holding System. As the user tightens the laces (particularly at the third pair of hooks), it locks the heel in place, preventing slippage and enhancing support.
The closure system of the Explorer Ridge Plus GTX uses metal loops and hooks. It has a padded collar and tongue for comfort.
