Although most modern-day skate shoes possess a minimal and deconstructed aesthetic, there are still a few that resembles what classic skate shoes back in the day look. One of these is the DC Manteca V SE, a variation of the classic DC Manteca, that features a low-top, bulky, and well-padded profile.

The men’s DC Manteca V SE may look old-school, but it still is stylish and up-to-date especially with its skate-approved technologies. Like the Manteca, one could pair it with joggers, cargo pants, or shorts, and a simple shirt or hoodie.

Recent colorways of these DC skate shoes include Black Camo and Navy/ Red.

The DC Manteca V SE is one of the variations of the classic Manteca skate shoe from the renowned skate shoe brand. Following the original silhouette, it features a leather, suede, or nubuck upper, a cupsole construction with Impact-G technology, and a grippy rubber outsole with DC’s trademarked Pill Pattern tread.

However, in this rendition, DC added a hook and loop Velcro strap on top of the lace-up closure to further allow a secure and lockdown fit – hence “V” in the name.

DC Shoes, Inc., one of the leading skate shoe brands, was founded in California by Damon Way and Ken Block. Although relatively a young brand compared to Nike, Adidas, or Vans, DC quickly gained a massive following within the communities of skateboarding and snowboarding.

Its early years focused on producing performance shoes for such action sports, which eventually resulted in revenue of $7 million just after its first year. To date, DC has established itself as a renowned global brand for skate shoes, apparel, and accessories not just for men but also for women and kids.

One of DC’s classic skate shoes is the DC Manteca. It relaunched in 2015 with a slimmed-down profile while retaining its classic roots. For better performance, it features an enhanced cupsole construction infused with Impact G technology for maximum impact protection.

Like the core model, it has a low-top profile with a cupsole construction, a sturdy upper made with suede, leather, or nubuck, lace-up closure, and sufficiently padded tongue and collar. In this version, however, a hook-and-loop Velcro strap is added to secure a lockdown fit on foot further.

  • The DC Manteca V SE also features perforation details on the toe box for increased breathability.
  • DC brandings are visible on the tongue, side walls, heel, and Velcro strap.
  • The rubber outsole is abrasion-resistant, while the cupsole construction allows maximum heel impact protection.
