Converse debuted in 1917 as the first-ever basketball footwear. It was renamed as the "All-Star" four years later and considered one of the most legendary silhouettes until today. This model was dubbed as the most famous sports footwear from the 40s until the 60s, that acquired 80% of the US market during that period.

In 1921, Chuck Taylor, a professional basketball player, was commissioned by Converse to be the ambassador of the brand around the US. Eventually, Taylor joined the basketball team sponsored by the Converse and helped in selling pairs of the All-Star across the continent.

Because of Taylor's unwavering commitment in the improvement of the All-Star concerning sales and popularity, the brand decided to include his signature in the ankle patch and on the official name of the All-Star. Until the last year of his life, Taylor was still working with the Converse.

Over the years, the Chuck Taylor All Star was dubbed with several nicknames from various generations, such as Chucks, Cons, and CTAS. In 2003, the brand was obtained by the giant sports company Nike and turned Converse as its casual sub-brand.

Since then, Converse has developed several progenies of the classic CTAS by upgrading its materials or collaborating with several names, brands, and retailers. One of it was with the Sanrio Company, a Japanese brand known for its Hello Kitty character. Hello Kitty is considered one of the most popular brands in the pop culture that started as a picture in a coin purse in Japan. This character became phenomenal around the globe for its wholesome image and pure cuteness.

The Converse x Hello Kitty collection was unveiled in August 2018 that includes accessories, apparel, and three of the Converse's most renowned silhouettes - Chuck Taylor All Star, Chuck 70, and the One Star. This collab suits the multi-generational fans of the Hello Kitty and the Cons for its graphics and logos on the upper with pretty prints on the kick's linings with a bonus set of cute laces.
