Who should NOT buy it
This shoe isn't for you if you prefer having a Converse high-top for $60 or less. You can put this aside if you are tired of the canvas style and want the best option made of leather. Wrapped with a sturdier canvas
Its cover is far from looking like the flimsy fabric used for grocery tote bags. This 12-ounce cotton canvas is thicker than those on the earlier Chucks.
Another layer of canvas is stitched to the sides of its vamp for added strength and durability.
Reduces pressure under the foot
It's a lot comfier than the past models. Instead of the usual fiberboard used in the classic Chucks, this upgraded style gets beefier with soft removable OrthoLite insole and Poron foam integrated to its sole. These significantly help reduce stress on the feet and legs, allowing you to stay comfy all day on concrete.
It needs a bit of break-in
It can be a little tight around the toe box at first since it's made with substantially higher rubber foxing and narrower width. The fit improves after giving it ample break-in time.
Equipped with better quality laces
The laces are relatively thicker and of better quality than other retro CTAS.
Lace holes get reinforced
Even the lace holes received better treatment using nickel-plated grommets. These shiny elements add a premium touch to the shoe and delay any signs of rust.
Dolled up ankle patch
Talk about deluxe detailing. The heat-welded ankle patch is replaced with soft leather with embossed Chuck Taylor details.
Grippier than ever
On the flip side, the design remains the same. But it feels tackier, preventing unwanted slips on a polished floor.
