Columbia’s Trailstorm Waterproof: Is it for you?
It is for you if:
You tackle well-maintained trails. Well, mostly, that is. You can still take your escapades to somewhere moderately rugged, but keep to the beaten path, and your tootsies will thank you.
You believe in seamless transitions. The Trailstorm Waterproof blurs the line between hiking kicks and sneakers, and as such, performs competently on both natural terrain and concrete. In simple words: With this on, you can just head straight to the trail after a busy day at work.
You like blending in while in the city. Yes, the casual aesthetics of the Trailstorm Waterproof will hardly give you away as someone who obsesses over backcountry adventures. It is quite modern-looking, and you can thank Columbia for that.
But maybe not if:
You hike where abrasive hazards abound. Its film-like forefoot overlay may not be enough against bigger and sharper rocks and gnarly roots as well.
Slippery descents are involved. As the Columbia Trailstorm Waterproof comes without a heel brake, negotiating downhills, especially muddy ones, may be tricky. Tip: Try tackling descents with your feet positioned sideways for extra control.

- If you need the exact same shoe but with additional support around the shaft, sport the Trailstorm Mid Waterproof instead.
