Size and fit
The Columbia Low Drag PFG is available in both men and women sizing. Most of the reviewers mention that sizing runs true to size on this lace-up footwear.
Much like other mesh-dressed shoes, this low-top has ample air ventilation and flexibility, while the strategically-placed leather overlays secure some of the crucial areas of the shoe. A reinforced heel affords comfortable mobility so the wearer can maneuver on and off the boat.
On top of the water-resistant material, the cushioned removable footbed is fully drainable, making for a quick wash-and-dry routine.
Columbia PFG Low Drag Style
The beauty of this PFG shoe boat is the versatility it spans in terms of lifestyle, gender, and age. Anyone can throw this on their feet and look put-together while experiencing some long-lasting comfort only felt by the wearer.
- In jeans or in khaki, with either a polo or shirt, a pair of the Low Drag PFG in Collegiate Navy/Tangy Orange or the Dove/Blue Chill will sure give some pop of color in a man’s outfit.
- Ladies can always pull off the Dark Mirage/Faded Peach color option of this boat shoe in a looser button-down blouse and denim shorts.
Having the makeup of a classic sneaker silhouette, and without prior knowledge of the inspiration for the PFG collection, the PFG Low Drag can pass as another must-have low-cut sneaker with a fabulous color scheme and clean design.
The breathable mesh upper is treated with the aptly called Omni-Shield™ Blood 'n Guts to protect the wearer the shoe from water and stains. Lightweight midsole through Techlite™ provides cushioning comfort. Lastly, the Omni-Grip™ nonmarking wet grip outsoles have razor siping that efficiently displaces the water for superior traction.
Columbia PFG Low Drag History
Oregon-based Columbia started as a hat manufacturer in 1938 with the name Columbia Hat Co.
The company changed its name to Columbia Sportswear in 1960 as its product offerings have expanded to outerwear items such as skiwear.
In the years that followed, the sportswear brand is known for making quality and durable outdoor apparel and then introduced its first footwear line in 1993.
Cementing the company’s reputation for manufacturing innovative technologies that fit the adventure-seekers, Columbia introduced the Performance Fishing Gear collection.
Also known as PFG, this line is inspired by the performance, style, and comfort of anglers - a fisherman who uses the fishing technique of fishing using an “angle” (fish hook).
Hook and bait
In 2019, Columbia forayed into the sneaker culture with the launch of SH/FT collection. Injecting a tried-and-tested quality and brushed up with colors and trendy designs, people were hooked.
With people becoming more practical and conscious about having multi-purpose products, Columbia sure has people making their way look deeper into their sneaker offerings.
The PFG Low Drag is what is called a fishing sneaker, which can be worn by anyone who, after a day of playing bait-and-hook, is ready to grab a beer and or hang out at the town’s favorite pub with the ease and style of donning only one piece of footwear.
Nice to know
- Columbia wordmark is visible on the tongue and lateral heel side.
- Performance Fishing Gear patch branding is on the heel, which is one with the pull tab.
