Cole Haan StudioGrand Knit Sneaker History
The shoe company Cole Haan started in 1928 at Chicago, Illinois by Eddie Haan and Trafton Cole. Back then, it only manufactures footwear for men as the sneaker’s popularity was mediocre at best. The company was able to survive the decades due to its high-quality products. It also helped that it started making shoes for women and children, as to widen its target market.
In 1975, the company was acquired by George Denney and his partners. Because of their marketing efforts, Cole Haan steadily became one of the top US shoe brands. By 1982, the brand has a retail division, which consists of around 40 shops worldwide. Cole Haan was able to reach a peak in annual revenue sales in 1996, to the tune of almost $70 million.
In 2012, the company’s ownership changed again. Apax Partners Worldwide bought Cole Haan from Nike for $570 million. Currently, the brand’s products are sold at its own retail stores all across the US and high-end department stores like Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom. Outside the US, Cole Haan products are available in various outlet stores, making it accessible for everyone.
Cole Haan offers a broad range of products for men and women such as clothing, lifestyle footwear, sunglasses, and a variety of accessories. One of the latest additions to its collection of women’s lifestyle kicks is the Cole Haan Studiogrand Knit Sneaker, which was first released in 2018. So far, most of its colorways are tonal.
