Who is it for? The Shimano RP301’s affordable price, combined with its semi-stiff soles, are aimed at beginner road cyclists or cycling fitness participants.
What is it good for? The shoe’s adequately stiff soles and ratchet closure works well for road training, recreational road rides, and cycling session at your local spinning club.
Lightweight and adequately stiff soles. Crafted from nylon soles that are reinforced with glass fiber, it offers a relatively light feel and rigidity. This shoe has a rating of 6 out of 12 in Shimano’s stiffness index chart.
Ventilation. Air vents are strategically placed in the forefoot area of the sole to enhance airflow and keep the foot feeling fresh and comfortable throughout the ride.
The Shimano RP301 is a cycling shoe with the three-bolt cleat system. The following pedals can be paired with this footwear: Garmin Vector 3 Power Meter, Exustar Pedals E-PR100P, and Shimano PD8000 Ultegra SPD-SL.
Expanded cleat adjustment. This shoe offers a total of 22 mm of space for cleat positioning. Compared to the conventional 11 mm of cleat space, this pair provides the rider with more options to find their optimal cleat positioning.
Comfort. Crafted from high-density synthetic leather that features perforations, the Shimano RP301 allows excellent airflow and provides a snug fit for optimal comfort during rides.

Secure fit without pressure points. The forefoot and midfoot are governed by two hook and loop straps while the upper part is secured via a ratchet buckle. The buckle is placed in the least bony part to prevent any digging or tension.

Wide heel. The heel area is wide to provide walking stability. It is also well-padded to enhance the overall comfort.
The Shimano RP301 road bike shoe features the brand’s Dynalast technology. This means that the shoe’s toe-spring section sits lower than the traditional last. It aims to support natural foot movement while pedaling and reduce energy loss.
This pair employs removable, basic foam insoles. The rider can easily replace it with their personal orthotic footbed if needed.
