This shoe to me is the most thoughtfully designed baseball spike from the bottom of each stud all the way to the top of the tongue.
A step up from its predecessor, the New Balance 4040v4 baseball shoe is a welcome addition to the diamond. The TPU mesh upper of the pair delivers a lightweight feel as the material envelops the player’s foot. While it has a low-top design, shoe lockdown and fit personalization are achieved through a central lacing system and the tongue.
Effective cushioning is delivered by the brand’s Revlite technology. This foam-based system has the ability to maintain the same responsiveness and durability with that of foam elements that are 30% heavier.
Finally, the flexible soleplate of this pair has two variations: a molded and metallic stud variety. The metallic version carries a total of eight studs. The molded version of this cleat makes use of fourteen stubs spanning from the forefoot to the heel area.
A central lacing system integrated into the shoe’s construction brings forth fit personalization. This feature also helps in securely holding down the foot. In addition to this, a lace guard stitched onto the tongue area also optimizes stability.
The TPU mesh upper of the 4040v4 baseball shoe model from New Balance creates a breathable and comfortable environment for the player’s foot. While generous ventilation is afforded the player through the shoe’s design, a supportive fit is also made available.
Both the lateral and medial side of the cleat carries the bold New Balance logo. This also goes for the upper tongue area, which carries the NB print.
Similar to the New Balance 4040 v5 model, the Revlite technology is used to cushion this New Balance cleat. This full-length, foam-based innovation has been designed to provide the responsiveness and durability of foam elements that are 30% heavier. In turn, this allows for a more lightweight feel for the wearer.
This New Balance model carries a flexible outsole which also delivers a lightweight feel. There are versions of the shoe that carries either metal or molded studs. For the metallic stud variation, it carries a total of eight studs. There are five studs integrated into the forefoot area and three in the heel area. When compared to its predecessor, it is noticeable that there have been changes in the stud arrangement, particularly in the heel area. Reversing the stud order found in the 4040v3 version, this model has two metallic studs at the farthest area in the heel and one near the middle.
For the molded variation, fourteen distinguishable stubs are incorporated into the plate. The forefoot carries eleven dominant plastic studs while the heel area holds a total of three.
New Balance 4040v4 ‘Sunset’ Pack
The Sunset pack of the New Balance 4040v4 balances out the iridescent elements of the colorway with some darker undertones. The upper which is in either black, white or gray shades color the heel to the forefoot. The shiny bits of the shoe include the soleplate as well as the New Balance logo found at the lateral as well as medial side of the cleat.
The New Balance 4040v4 baseball shoe is available in several colorways including:
- With metallic studs:
- Black/Royal Blue
- Black Orange
- Royal Blue/ White
- With metallic studs:
- A turf and mid top version of this shoe model have been made available by the brand.
